Craig makes a very good point about the travel days both going and returning.   Even when I was just going to Bogota on a direct non-stop flight the days are shot as far as if someone needs to consider taking time off from work.   I would say that if you are pursuing a special woman and are working on a relationship I would prefer to see her at least once a month or more frequently for shorter periods of time than to not be able to see her for maybe two or three months...  If you are on the prowl and in the searching mode I think it is better to be there for the full week trying to have the longer stay enable you to have some repeat dates if you find yourself making the connection.  In the past I was fortunate with my work situation I was able to "sneak" away for a few days without anyone noticing and not have to take some of those valuable vacation days.   This is when the quick weekend getaways would come in handy.   This was also the good old days for me... You have me now looking back at my travel receipts:  $355.,  $368., $325., $424. $435., some of the full total prices I paid for my flights down to Colombia during the 2002-2003 years... Now I am looking at the same flights in the $700-800. range.   For me the increase in the airfares now make me think a little more carefully if I am going to take that quick trip.
