Pete, Traveller, Heat....

Can you guys get the same sport packages (NFL, NBA Ticket) & Tivo down there, as we can state side? Oh...and don't forget to mention the installation & monthly cost. Please tell me that I can get "Law & Order, The Military, TLC, TDC, etc" in English...lol. Those "dubbed" voices sound soooo silly!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I heard that if you have a Stateside account with DirecTV and bring the equipment down with you to Colombia, all you need to do is aim it at the correct satellites and you have the Stateside programming available to you. True or not?

Pablo,
What are you going to do, bring it on the plane with you?  Wouldn't the freight charge be a little much?  Just a thought.

When I return to Colombia my two check in bags will be filled with goodies along with my carry on.  The newer satellite dishes are surprisingly small and would easily fit in a suitcase along with the receiver.  I'm not sure it that is one item I will bringing though as I do already have cable TV there.  Granted, not many programs are in English but it does help with understanding more Spanish.

Oopps, I already got in trouble for posting about Bearshare and Pimsleur.  Well, beat me twice.

I would like to hear though what your friend says about it or if another poster has done this with DirecTV.

I pay 180,000 pesos for my direct TV ,a dish network system. That includessome very basic HBO.
I did get all the football games. Most with US anouncers but unfortunetly even the super bowl with Latino anouncers
and commercilas. With the US anounced games you could switch to espanol audio, with the lation anounced games nada.
I get CCN international, which I am trully sick of but at least I get US and world news in english.I get about 40 music channels, which is great for intertaining in my bedroom,I can find something the girls want to listen to,much better than radio.
The 3 things I mention above I would basically not get with the  other choices,so I am sticking with them even if they are expensive.Basketball I could care less about, but it looks like its available,I just pay a small additonal fee like I did with  football.
My other sport I like to watch is boxing,I get basically nothing.I have basic HBO but itsnot included. If its available with expanded HBO they don't even bother to tell me.
I really miss Fox news.I had it in Bogota at a hotel but I guess its not available here even though I get Fox sports.
You pay more, alot more for things like TV and computer cable and get alot less.I pay 465,000 pesos amonth for unlimited internet usage.Among some disadvantages of being here.
Pablo mentioned good prices for DSL and TV in Medellin. In Medellin they have a very good phone line situation that will handle all kinds of high speed stuff over the phone lines. Its a different company, way ahead of the guys in CAli.and its cheap. Here  it very poor over thephone line service or expensive cable.Dish network is talking about internet connectionsbut its not available yet.
So basically6 it costs me 650,000, pesos amonth, about $280  for what would be about $100 a month in ther states
or maybe even less in Medellin. And the TV options are like 20%.
Welcome to world numero trece, mananaland style.

Okay Pete,

Nice story, but you really got me on the music in the bedroom stuff.  I am not without imagination, so do you use the music to get the girls "in the mood"?  Or maybe they are already in the mood, but it's just for fun?  I am asking about "the bedroom", rather than the living room?
I am teasing somewhat, but I am curious.  Can I take notes? ha

We head to the bedroom for privacy.I turn on the TV to the music channels, its good backgroung music,I can always find something we both like.So I would miss that music option if I got rid of Direct TV.
Actually my girls are always in the mood, with rare exceptions. One did just kind of crash on me the other night, she was very tired, but I have been known to do that to her.The other one, never ever wasn't in the mood.

Pete,
I guess I wasn't thinking about the privacy issue.  I almost forgot that there are other guys there with you; at least part of the time.  I hope to check your place out myself when I am down there.  However, since I don't live down there, I probably won't be watching too much TV.  But, like you said, sometimes, a guy needs a little break from all that heavy breathing! ha

If you have time to watch TV down here you are doing something wrong in my book.  Like not enough sex.

Some guys even say to me why are you spending time on the forum when there is so much to do in Cali,as in the chicas?
My answer is how many hours a day can you have sex?
There is time,at least in MY case, for other activities.
Reminds me of my friend who used to go to the San Francisco 49er games. He said it was better to watch the game at home, you could get a piece of A at halftime.
All in its time.I prefer my amourous activity in the nightime. In the morning I just want to go back to sleep
afterwards instead of doing anything else.
Actually the what else do you do in Cali is a good question. It can be limiting for OTHER diversions.
