I have not been to Cali since September 2004,   was wondering

if there was a new casino located within Chipichape mall.

I think it is called "Casino de Cali".  need to fill in downtime

before evening but still also enjoy drinking those cervesa's de barril

watching the calenas in the mall.

The difference between Nevada and LA casinos is that US casinos are regulated by gaming commissions that keep the game fair.  Vegas relys on the odds that are in their favor to slowly take your money.

In Costa Rica there are areas where the government has no control.  I don't believe there is even any attempt to insure honest in casinos and if there were they could never enforce it.  I believe Colombia has a ineffective a police force as CR and the drug cartels certain run the casinos.  

You can talk all you want about BJ rules but if the casino removes a few aces and kings from a 12 deck shoe, the rules don't really matter. There is a trash can outside every casino and the only reason to enter a casino rather than place your money directly in la basura is because you prefer to be entertained when you throw away your money.

Yeah, It's called "Hollywood Casino". It is in the parking structure next to chippi chappi. I was there in the end of December 2004.

I played slots there and blackjack. I thought it was quite nice and I actually forgot I wasn't in Reno or Vegas. Not world class gambling but nice.

I would recommend it.

So, tell us about their BJ rules. Would you say they are liberal, average or tight? (I mean stuff like letting you double any 2 cards, double after split, re-split, etc.) Do they offer craps or any other games?

The way I remember it was you could double on any 2 cards and split and resplit pairs.  One extra good rule was an early surrender rule when the dealer had an ace up.  That is all I remember and I hope I am remembering it correctly.  There was no craps, if there was I am sure I would have stayed too long.  As it was I left up a few bucks for once!
Overall the casino experience was brief and enjoyable.

Downtime in Cali? Get an awesome and legitimate one-hour massage from a gorgeous Calena. How about a manicure one day and a pedicure another. Get a short-term membership to a local gym and be there for the salsa aerobics class (Heaven on Earth). I've never gambled in Colombia, and I don't think I ever will.

 I am not sure that I understand the purpose of your post?  Were you making a positive or a negative comment about getting a massage, or manicure/pedicure from a calena?  I was in a casino, probably the very one you guys are talking about.  I just looked around.  The lady that owned the taxi service that I was using spoke english, and she was giving me a tour of the city the last day I was in Cali; this past August.  Frankly, I just wanted to look around, and take some pictures.  The management people told me I could look around, but no pictures.  So, I was not there very long.  Other than gambling, I was not there long enough to find out what "other services" were available.  I walked around ChippiChappe for a while.  That day, I also went to see some other stuff, pretty much a quick tour of the metro area.  When I go back, I will most likely be with a "hot" calena that I am currently corresponding with. I am sure that she knows many places to go.
Basically, I appreciate you guys telling the rest of us more about the points of interest in Cali, or the other Colombian cities.

My purpose was to push my values about gambling on the rest of you. I think it is one of the most counterproductive forms of entertainment around. I loathe the business of gambling. A good friend of mine is addicted to gambling, another loses $200.00 or more on a weekly basis at a local Indian casino. I can't imagine wasting a single minute or peso gambling in Cali or anywhere else.

If I have "downtime" in Cali I use it to go get a manicure, pedicure or a massage in Cali. They are inexpensive and a real luxury to me; because I've never gotten them in the U.S..  I like going to Cali's zoo. It can get pretty boring in Cali, so joining a gym is probably a really healthy alternative to gambling or having a few more beers.

There is a casino at Chipichape. But it's not in the mall and it has been open since before September 2004.

It is located in the parking structure. If you enter by the movie theaters you can't miss it. I think it's called "Hollywood Casino". I was only in it once. I'm not much of a gambler.

Personally, I think you would have been luck hanging out at Regge and Pop and winking at the ladies as they pass by.

thanks for the cali casino info.

you would think they would have a sign pointing to it.

I was leering to hard at calenas to notice the location.

i was at the casino in intercontiental in september 2004

three  hours eating and drinking for free.  i left winning

60 dollars.   very powerful cuba libres.   the same

people are playing the blackjack every night.

growing on the chairs like mushrooms in a cave.

made me want to go - whem?  morays and folkways of the

cali jetset.
