Medellin Manizales, Is it a safe taxi drive?

Is it safe to drive from Medellin to Manizales, if in a taxi during daylight?

I spoke to a knowledgeable local taxi driver and he said it was safe traveling to Manizales from Medellin.  A better option IMO is to take a 20 minute airplane ride rather than the four hour one by car.

I have not been able to find a direct flight Medellin-Manizales.  Which airlines do you know of that fly there, for reasonable prices?

I'm not talking about the main airport(J MC) in Rio Negro but the smaller airport, Olaya Herrera that is located within the city limits of Medellin.  I've never taken any flights from there but it's widely used.

For help with arranging a flight out of OH I would contact a local lady I trust who works for a travel agency.  Her name is Catalina, a bi-lingual Paisa.  Her email address is rfcatalina "at" hotmail dot com

If it were me I would fly rather than drive.  Hope this helps.

The reason why the cloak and dagger on the email address is to avoid email addresses being picked up by robot programs.  Patrick has advised us to disguise email addresses in our posts.

where several people who are going to Manizales share the cost rather than pay the fare all by yourself.  the group taxis also leave from the bus terminal.
