It is my personal opinion that the clubs/bars are not the best places to pick-up a woman in Medellin. For the most part, couples go to bars/clubs and groups of single women, the club/bar scene is not like that of a major US city. The Paisa's are usually more conservative in nature. Plus, the Latin culture works on a respect hierarchy if a man is with a woman then do not approach her unless you want problems. The guy may just be her brother but unless you get formally introduced to her then just look but do not touch.
I believe the best places to pick-up a woman are at the local commercial centers (malls) or the gym. I met a couple of other Americans in my travels to Medellin and they did not have a problem meeting women at the gym and the malls. This of course depends on your Spanish skills and to some extent how you look. For instance one of my friend's was in his mid-30's and in good shape so he had no problems meeting the women in the gym. Some of the malls are El Tesoro, Unicentro, San Diego, and Oviedo.
If you do just want to check out some clubs in Medellin to see what they are like then I would recommend:
1. Trilogía (near avenue Las Vegas)
2. Mangos
At least once in your life you need to see the dancers at Mangos, they are some of the most attractive women that I have seen on this Earth, and I have travelled to quite a few places on this planet......TRUST ME.....seeing those women dance on the bar will leave a lasting impression.
My fiance really likes Trilogia because of the live band(s) that play on the weekend. But you had better get there early if you want a table (9:00 pm) or call and make reservations.
