I have a question for anyone who wants to respond.  We all see the photos and profiles from the women on the various websites for the agencies.  I am sure that we are all looking at the things that are said about her, what she wants in a man, age, etc.  Now, my question is the part where she says that she wants a man who is "open minded".  Not all of them say it, but several ladies do. What the heck does that mean?  I know that I am always looking at the ladies' profile to see if she and I might have some things in common, and also to see what age man she wants.  But, what I am trying to find out is the "open minded" part.  To also give you some clues to what I am trying to learn here; I found out early on that when a girl says she wants a man who is a "lover of detail"; she is not referring to how detailed I am in my work, etc.  She wants a man who will remember to do all of the romantic things for her, to her, etc. The art of romance, as it were. I have been informed that the holidays, birthdays, etc, are very important to her. Since it appears that this is probably another cultural issue, I would like to know how the latinas view this "open mindedness"? Now, at this point, I don't have a special lady in my life.  But, as I continue to look for one, I would like to know what she wants me or you to be "open minded" about?  Basically, I want to compare apples to apples.

I would have to agree with most of the other posts... One of the first things that comes to mind is that you are going to be in for one hell of a ride and might get into something kinky...   I think you would first need to ask:  What topic is it that she is open-minded about?   Also, something might be getting lost in the translation.   Are these "open-minded" profiles mostly on the same site?   Do these ladies only speak Spanish?   Maybe the person doing the translation is using the best words that the person can think of or is the translators point of view.   Another possibility is that some of these women are asked to fill out a form that lists different qualities or characteristics they are seeking in a man and are checking the box which would make it more of a "generalization".   I have found out that is why some of the profiles look so similar, if the ladie is asked to check off the boxes and the questionaire is not that detailed or extensive we will see so many of the profiles looking the same.

MarkNJ,
What you are saying is probably right, and that is the type of thing that I naturally would think of.  But, I was trying to see if there might be an actual cultural meaning to it.  I refer to my earlier post when I mentioned that I had found out what the latina meaning of "lover of detail" is.  It would not have occurred to me, since our culture is much different.  Now that I know, I can try to always meet that need of the latina.  In fact, it will be a pleasure to meet that need for her.  I also refer to the recent post that CartegenaPapito put up.  He was talking about the meaning of the use of "Papi". I never heard of it.  Even if all of the women would not use it, apparantely enough of the ladies might use it, because of the meaning to them.  So, I may be just imagining things, but I had seen enough ladies put this "open minded" thing on their profiles; I thought that there might be a possibility that it had some other meaning to them.  I don't want to analyze this to death, but I thought that I could at least ask you guys on this board.  Thanks anyhow.

The use of "Papi" depends on the woman. My wife never calls me "Papi" and has point blank told me never to call her "Mami". Of course I can still call her "Mamacita". My pet name for her is pequenita.

I agree:  "Open minded" is just a euphemism for 'clam diver.'

I find the notion of trying to describe oneself in 25 words or less to be a little silly and most personal ads sound the same.  Asking a woman what she meant would make a nice piece of conversation but I'm sure it means different things to different ladies.

Wow! I guess I am a lover and detail and never knew it.
Nice, now I have more options. haha!

Actually this is a pretty good post. I have one that I was always curious about and kept forgetting it... What does it mean exactly when they say they are "modern" ?
I think that means a career girl?
