Going to Cali for forst time Jan 10th !!

After spending much time lurking in this board, I have decided
to go to Cali. My friend backed out on me from advice from
friends regarding the danger, so I will be alone. I am a little
scared, but excited at the same time. I plan to stay in a hotel,
and then use one of the agencies. It seems like the first night,
and poss the next day I will be bored there alone until the dates
are set up. Do you folks recommend paying for an agency
before leaving to avoid this ??

Don't just bring one credit card, bring several. The airports are tyically short of exchange money near the holidays, and the exchange rate is bad. Cash machines are the best way to get Colombian money, but some won't accept your card for some reason which is why it is wise to bring two or three cards.

I'll second that.  On a recent trip I had one card eaten in MIA of all places.  Another tip I like is the "don't put all your eggs in one basket".  IOW don't carry all your cards with you at one time when out and about.  I utilize 2 wallets, including a dummy wallet in the back pocket that I would use in case of being mugged (fortunately that hasn't happened knock on wood).  One can't be too cautious this time of year.

Do NOT pay for an agency from the US the prices may be tripled. You won't be bored. First thing in the morning go to an agency and go through their books. They'll make dates for you starting right now.

Thanks for the advice. What would be the agency price to expect for 10
days - better to pay in dollars, or Culumbian currency?

Prices are all over the place and depend on how business is the day you walk in. I went with a guy over to Latin Best about six months ago and she offered him two weeks for $50 introductions, no room. In my experience that was a record low price. More likely a couple of hundred. If you get a dollar price but pay in pesos you might come out slightly ahead. Others here likely have more current info.

I do recommend you join an agency, but not before you visit them in person. I'm biased towards LE and ACG because I think they have superb service and beautiful and plentiful ladies. However, others have mentioned Latin Internet, Latin Best, CaliCita, Hearts of Cali, etc. Check-out the agencies on the internet before you go and have a couple in mind. Once you get there, you'll explore a bit an make an informed decision. Maybe we'll see you there.
