Colombian guerrillas have found a new way to say "Seasons Greetings".

From http://www.guardian.co.uk/international/story/0,3604,1108664,00.html:

At least one person was killed yesterday and 20 injured when grenades were thrown into three department stores packed with shoppers in the Colombian port of Barranquilla.  Police blamed Marxists, either the ELN or Farc movements, fighting the government in a four-decade guerrilla war.

Un prospero nuevo aņo. (I had to include the "ņ" on that one, he he)

Steve

PS: Ooops! I think I forgot an "r" in the subject line, but you can't edit those.

What I read in the Barranquilla paper was different from what this source says. El Heraldo said that they were bombs in each of the stores, not grenades, and detonated with cell phones. About 90 people were hurt. 1 girl working in one of the stores was killed. It was well planned. An editorial in the newspaper just the day before had been critical of lax security by the police in Barranquilla. No doubt that will be stepped up considerably now.

The people in Barranquilla were very unhappy after that. The girl that I
talk to was very upset about it. She had her son with her in one of those
stores in the morning....
