Patrick, Charles asked me to post this for him in hopes that maybe you could help him with the problem he's been having with posting here.....


From Charles:
I have two ISP.  One is EXEC PC that I use with a telephone line.  The other is a cable line Roadrunner.  I first used my EXECPC account and email address and received a password along with my ID emailed to me from Planet Love.  It also had a link where you could go to and it would put a cookie on your system.  I clicked the link and it went to a page where it said "HTTP 404 - File not found". The page you were looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

Please try the following:

 a.. If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly and Case Correct.

 b.. Click the Refresh/Reload button, or try again later.

 c.. Open the home page, and then try to link to the page you want. If you still cannot find the page, please notify the referring URL of this missing link.


So I went to the forum and tried to make a post but it was refused saying that my account wasn't activated.  I can input my ID and password to change my profile but I can't read other members emails and I can't post anything.

So next I tried to set up a new account using my Roadrunner using a different ID and was again sent a new password with the same link.  The same thing happened when I tried to post.  Yes if you could make a post for me asking Patrick to email me at charles@cali-bedandbreakfast.com maybe he could tell me what I am doing wrong.  Thanks James, it's frustrating because I really want to start posting messages, I've been married for three years now and I'm overflowing with advice!!;)

I've just gone through all the account submissions and authorized all that did not appear to be potential trolls.  I believe this guy was one of the ones I enabled for posting.

I concur with what you guys are saying. My Ukrainian wife tried two times to sign up on the Eastern European side.  Both times we received acknowledgment but her passwords never came.  Now she can't try again as both her email address show that they are active members of the list.  Oh well......I guess one can't complain to loudly since it is a free list and I know it's not a moneymaking business for Patrick.

I do think however out of respect for other people's time and efforts, Patrick should at least return e-mails, or make a disclaimer on the home page that he doesn't return e-mails and is no longer accepting new members.  Just to ignore e-mails and requests for membership isn't quite the correct approach.  I do appreciate this site and the work he has done, but maybe he should consider turning it over to someone who has time to maintain it.  I'm sure some of these people have alot to share, and could add alot to this board.  It's a shame that they are being ignored and their time is being wasted.  Their time is just as valuable as Patrick's.

I agree with what you are saying.  However, I've noticed in the past it appears that Patrick takes a vacation at year end.  So maybe it's just a temporary situation and after New Years things will return to normal.

Not sure if that's the case since he made a post below on 12/12...............also I remember him posting earlier this year stating that he no longer returned e-mails directed to the planet-love e-mail address.  Maybe he'll give the folks a good explanation on why they are being ignored.

I spend most of the free time I have these days with my beautiful 8 month old daughter.  She's way more fun than you guys!

This site loses money, and I don't see myself turning that around when the pay-off at best is only a small fraction of what I make as an engineer.  I can't see working more hours at way less pay while missing out on spending time with my daughter (she'll only be a baby once).

I'm SO HAPPY to have finally gotten my password. I understand your priorities and am really appreicative of this wonderful board/service you provide.

I respect you for being a great father and spending time with your family, it's very admirable................but don't you think that out of respect for other people, you should post something on the home page that you don't have time for this venture and that any and all e-mails sent will not be answered, and also maybe give a time frame as to when new members can expect to be activated?  I think that the people who try to get in touch with you deserve respect and their time shouldn't be wasted.  It would also be a great lesson to Sarah (once she gets to the age when she can understand).

I had a lot of problems signing up for this forum.

I must have sent 10-15 e-mails. I think others have had the same problem.
