Hi Cassius,

What price range you looking at on digital cameras?  Canon has some great cameras out, especially their 10D, although a bit on the spendy side.

A good web site for camera comparisons is www.dpreview.com

Pablo:

i've seen basic stuff in london for £200-£300+. i'm fascinated by the life like realism and how you can play with the image on a pc/mac.

so i'm looking for a best buy type deal for know. the tech and price get better real quick so better options are down the road.

yeah i really get into researching tech stuff before i buy, so thanks for the site info.

I have been using Canon Digital Elphs for a few years. I have had 3 so far and about to buy the 4th.  The last one I bought was the s230. It is only 3 megapixels but that is more than enough for what I am doing, in fact 2 megapixels is fine. I am most likely going to get the sd100 which is also 3 megapixels etc.

If you are more serious about the photography, you would want a better/more expensive model. I like the Elphs as they take good pictures and are very small. I can fit an Elph in my shirt pocket etc. I find that if I have a bigger camera I tend to leave it home more often. I'd rather have good shots of nearly anything I want then great shots of things that happen only when I decided to lug my big camera.

If you want to see some examples of pics shot with the Elphs, take a look at http://community.webshots.com/user/drtourist

Those were all shot with 2 megapixel cameras. Even with the new 3 megapixel, I keep it set to 1600 by 1200 any way. If I was going to make larger prints I would bump up the resolution but for web stuff 1600 by 1200 is more than enough.
