I have a question for anyone in CALI I am coming in March with my wife. We would like to purchase her Mother a washing machine. Any help with a price or just close would be greatly appreciated.
                           Thanks

I purchased one only to find that it has been converted to a piece of furniture.  This must be pretty common as they sell prefabed covers for just that purpase.  The maid just can't figure out the benefits of it I guess.  So like the microwave I purchased, it had become a cabinet except for when I'm there.  Oh well, there is something to be said for hand-washed air dryed clothes.  So maybe consider a furniture purchase instead as it may be more useful!

Hi Davey,

I went to Casa de Remates on Av. Vasquez Cobo across from the large Seguro Social in the north.  We picked up a lightly used Whirlpool washer and dryer unit for 450K COP.  They had another one there, same model, that looked new for 710K COP.  It's been working great for almost a year and a half, just another option over buying new.  Also, in Jan & Feb, many people are faily tight on cash after spending so much on the holidays, the feria and vacations, that you might be able to haggle/bargain for a great price.

Good Luck, TNC

There's a sector in El Centro with a lot of washing machine stores. The prices are slightly better than department stores like La Catorce Calima etc. We paid about $900.000 for a GE. Don't listen to sales pitches about hot water cycles. Nobody has hot water.
