Author Topic: Settle a music question?  (Read 1535 times)

Hi -

I'm hoping someone can settle a music question. There's a famous (I think) salsa tune called "Las Calenas son como las flores." I know that the Latin Brothers have it on some of their compact disks (confirmed on Amazon.com) but are there numerous other groups that perform it? For example, I've seen the same song title connected with Frukos y Sus Tesos.

Just trying to figure out who's got the best version -- I sometimes use Kazaa to learn about new music before going out and buying the CD. As the above example illustrates, though, it's sometimes hard to trust the song titles and artist info.

Thanks,

David

i'll give you a little report from Ecuador.

Ok, I know you guys who've been to Cali say its the best. I can't really comment because I've not made it there's NO WAY Alejandra would condone me going alone. Maybe we'll take a trip up there some time.

Just recently we almost settled it that Cali is the place to be because the women are beautiful AND interested. Ralph disagreed.

I'll side with Ralph on this one. Just today I was walking along Avenida 6 de deciembre near QuiCentro (Quito, Ecuador). Ahead of me was this gorgeous beauty. Model figure, bare mid-riff (yes you do get them here occasionally). She was letting her hips roll as she walked. Guys she walked past were catching flies. ( no , not getting caught
in their fly ). She entered QuiCento and I saw her face - a 7 or 8, probably seven. But the way she carried herself and the poise she had - well if she was in Ipanemo another song would have been written maybe.

Most girls aren't like that here - but a fair few are as well.

Another thing. Grooming. If I go out unshaven and wearing a pair of jeans and a T-shirt - I'm a bum here. Stick on a baseball cap - that just compounds the issue. Don't EVER wear a baseball cap. If like me you've got a bald bonce and you burn - buy a decent brimmed hat. Now if I shave, put on a decent pair of pants and, crucially, put on a nice leather jacket - results transformation. Same guy underneath but as far as the women are concerned suddenly I am a classy guy. Loads of looks coming my way - and from girls 25 years younger than me up to 10 years younger. Funnily enough no looks from women my own age - mid forties.

Here now its a HUGE holiday in Quito as Dec 6th was the date Quito was liberated. Chivas, fiestas, groups playing free in the park, a one week long bull fighting festival. In Plaza America there are gorgeous women walking around with parents, boyfriends and a fair few with girlfriends. I'm happily together with Alejandra so I only take note of the looks. Also if I am out with my one year son then he acts like a babe-magnet. But I get the impression that if 2 or 3 guys came down together - and can speak some Spanish then they could have a whale of a time.

Does economics play a part - I've got to say yes. If the US had a Latin economy and Latin America was the wealthiest region in the world would agencies exist - sure! Beautiful blondes would be signing up in agencies all over the mid-west hoping to meet Latin guys. Or maybe not. What do you think?
