Anyone with recent experience with the agency scene in BQ and Cartagena?  I plan to visit both cities in the next couple of months.  I wonder whether it's worth just going (but don't want to do the tour...) or writing (getting to know a few women before going to meet them) ... What are the pros and cons with the agencies in these cities?  From what I have read here on this forum the ownere of barranquilla beauties appears to have a questionable reputation, and AFA seems to be not as viable as it once was?  Any info on these?
How are the attitudes of the women, and what seems to be the interest level in relationship versus visa/?
Any suggestions would be welcome; thanks!

I recently purchased the $99 membership to AFA because I thought it would be a good way to pre-screen some women prior to visiting them. However, I have yet to receive a single response to any of my approximately 10 e-mails. I'm not interested in writing traditional letters to women without e-mails because of the time span between each letter and the unreliability of this type of communication. However, you really don't know which ladies have an e-mail until you buy the addresses. Anyways, purchasing AFA addresses was a complete waste of money in my opinion. Perhaps the AFA tours are a better investment, but they are very expensive compared to comparable services in Cali. It would be great to have an agency like ACG or LE in Cartagena.

I went on a Barranquilla Beauties tour and met more beautiful women than I had time for. No problems with the owner at all. I'm not saying that his service is better than the others. But I have known him for years. A lot of false rumors have been spread by his competitors.

Thanks for your imput, yeah.. I realize that bad press is not always entirely reliable, but then again where there's smoke....
I will continue to check into the agency scene but at present am somewhat leery of investing in the tour....

Did you send them via email or regular mail?

Two years ago I sent 20 letters, regular mail to ladies via a different agency and also got no responses. I learned later that some of the ladies, especially the good looking ones, get hundreds of letters. They are much more likely to respond to an email than an actual letter.

I was aware of the bad press this agency received.  I called the owner but, he must have been in a bad mood.  Nonetheless, I decided to buy the tape and catalog.  Sure enough there were many with direct email addresses.  I decided to email 10.  Eight of the email addresses came back "Undeliverable".  I thought this was a tad strange, after all aren't these woman seeking that special gringo.
The other two wrote to tell me they were married and living in the United States.  One said she had contacted the agency numerous times to have here profile removed from the book.  Obviuosly it wasn't.  I emailed the owner about the situation.  He thanked me and said he would update.  This situation seems a bit suspect.  I probably would have went on the tour but, I figured emailing 10 women would be a good way to "test the waters" so to speak.  When all were unavailable this changed things.

If that is what you experienced, I don't blame you for being suspicious. I have never used the email aspect of Barranquilla Beauties, only the tours, so I cannot comment.

When it comes to website photos, I know of horror stories at several agencies. A friend of mine decided to visit a reputable agency in Cali and had three ladies selected in advance from the website. The owner assurred him that he would meet them when he arrived in Cali. Well, when he arrived, he discovered that one lady was engaged, another has been trying to get her photo out of the books for months, and the third lady had a boyfriend. He was so dissappointed that he scheduled a last minute trip to Bogota.

The lack of updated websites seems to be a universal problem among agencies, at least in my experience.

I wonder if low response rate has anything to do with the ages of the 'typical' latina in barranquilla beauties.  they tend to be in the low 20's and teens (oops!)....
I think they are probably recruited by the agency staff who tend to be very young, too, hence immature... imho

The lack of responses is due to a poorly updated website and has little to do with the young age of the ladies. The "typical latina" in Barranquilla is not in the low 20's, or teens. Most ladies were in their mid twenties, early thirties when I was there. It seems like Cali has a larger number low 20's and teen hotties compared to BQ.

Thanks for your input Zack, yes, I stand corrected.  Mostly 20's from Sams website.  Incidentally I met a lady from Barranquilla who attended the AFA tour and was disappointed with the turnout of men, also not too many ladies were there (relative to some other tours like tlc)...Ricardo
