I picked up my marriage visa from the consulate in Los Angeles yesterday and Fedexed a copy to my novia. Finally everything is in place for our December wedding. All the arrangements have been made in Cali. By tomorrow the notaria will have all the documents. It hasn't been easy or cheap. I've spent over $400 on apostilles, certifications, notaries and translations alone. But the worst part of the whole process was the two trips to the consulate. A total of 14 hours in stop and go LA traffic for 500 miles. How does that city function? But that's another story. It's nice to have it all out of the way. I can focus on my novia and our wedding. Of course the real fun begins with the visa process after the wedding. I think that it will actually be a lot easier than dealing with the Colombian government and the notaria. At least the requirements won't change hourly. If anyone is going to be in Cali December 19 you are invited to our wedding. Just shoot me an email. Hey free food and booze.

Congratulations and best wishes for a life time with the girl of your dreams! You've encouraged me that there is life after 50!

You are right $400 sounds expensive plus all that trouble and time. I don't think I would ever go that route. I paid a colombian lawyer $800 and got married the next day with only my birth certificate and divorce decrees, no apostilles,no translations, and the only notory was the one that married us.

I'll be in Cali the 19th so I'll shoot you an e-mail. Will there be alot of single ladies at the wedding or should I bring a date?

Also what would you like for a wedding gift?

It takes perserverence and patience to pull off these marriages.

Good luck and I hope all goes well from here on in.
