Yes, you're right. The signs are not so subtle.

I would simply be a fool to continue this "relacion."

So, I am ready to move on and find someone who will truly love me, no matter what it takes.

Thanks,

~Henry

Yeah Pete,

I'm thinking more and more of looking for someone else who would truly love me. I know what that feels like from my past.

Do you have any recommendations as far as agencies? I would like ones which offer the service of being able to write to women who already show an interest.

Thanks,

~Henry

The agencies in Cali are the best I think.Latin Encounters,Latin Internet, all Colombiasn girls.I don't think they are really in to addreses and writting. Why not meet 20 or 30 attractive women in person while you would be waiting for one long distance reply? In person you really see their sweetness, the femininity. Most girls were much more attractive than their pictures.
Just a plane ride away.Got a week and $600 for a ticket? And maybe $100 a day for room plus spending money?Borrow it.I can't think of anything more intersesting to run your credit card up on.
No internet experience can possibly compare.

I think your suggestion would be ideal if I was kind of wealthy and perhaps retired.

As it stands, I just returned from Colombia, (and yes, I am spoiled by that Country) and won't be able to get back until maybe 5-6 months later. I'm a Registered Nurse, so that may give you an idea of my salary.

Indeed, it would be great to just wisk away to Colombia for a week and meet all of those beautiful women, but it is simply not realistic in my case.

That is why I'm searching for agencies that have a variety of services including correspondence with the ladies showing their interest.

After all, I don't want to be twiddling my thumbs for the next 5-6 months.

Peace,

~Henry

Henry,
I was just thinking that $975 your were considering paying LAI could go along way towards a trip. But it wouldn't pay it all, plus you need time off from work.I've never been in to writting but there has got to be cheaper sources.
Good luck.If you can't go right aweay writting can be usefull.Just don't get to far out aheasd of yourself emotionally utill you meet the girl.I have seen wasted trips and VERY disapointed ladies.Immagine not only do they not have the guy they thought they were going to get but they are rejected, not good enough.I know that feeling and its no fun at all.

Of all the things I've read on this list I've never seen anything more startling than the statement that you can get married even if you aren't there.  Is that true?

I'm sorry but that's insane!

I was sitting in JP Court in Dallas one day and saw two dudes in front of the judge.  All of the sudden, he began performing a marraige by proxy.  It was pretty funny.  At the end, there were some catcalls for a kiss from some of the errant drivers in the crowd. Pretty funny!

I wonder what would happen at the US embassy in Bogota when your wife went to pick up her visa. Do you think they would give it to her if they knew the groom didn't attend his own wedding?

Does anybody know anybody who got married by proxy in Colombia?

I AGREE
THAT HAS TO BE THE MOST INSANE THING I HAVE EVER HEARD. TO GET MARRIED WITHOUT EVEN BEING THERE. MAYBE IF YOU WERE IN IRAQ AND YOU HAD BEEN TOGETHER FOR ALONG TIME, BUT YOU NEED TO WAKE UP ! I KNOW ALL OF THIS IN IN CAPS AND IS CONSIDERED RUDE , BUT I HAVE MADE MISTAKES IN MY LIFE,BUT SIR, YOU NEED TO SAVE YOURSELF !!

It can be done by proxy. One of my  friends was thinking of doing it to speed up the visa process, but decided it wouldn't help much. They would have had another wedding later with him there.
Hmm,makes you wonder where proxy priveleges end.

If you go to an agency in Colombia and you don't find a wife just leave a power of attorney with the owner.  Somebody will come along and he can marry you without all the messy work of meeting and getting to know her.

Don't forget to watch the premiere of Average Joe tonight at 9 PM Central.  It should be a riot!

My parents (both non-Latinas) married in Mexico by proxy while they were both in the USA. So I can believe you can do it in Colombia.
And Texas I know does not require both to be there. That's why that Russian cosmonaut married while he was in space and his girlfriend was in Texas.

“By November 6th, we are supposed to get married even without my presence; but only if she and a friend who I have given "power" to do are present at the notary in Barranquilla.”

At the risk of saying something too advanced for Planet Love, most women like the groom to show up at the wedding.  It’s one of those icky romantic things women seem to like.  Perhaps she was too young.
