I know one should not send money to a woman you never met. What about sending flowers or a small gift to someone you are having
good correspondence with?

This subject makes me cringe.  I disagree.  I think you're too much of a nice guy.  He's never even met the girl!

Numero uno - When guys start thinking along these lines they start to drift into a fantasy world.  They start thinking they have something with a girl they've never met.  They have nothing!  This girl may be writing 17 other guys and going out at night to dance with the Colombian national futbol team.

Numero dos - Sending small gifts to a woman after you meet her makes you look romantic.  Sending gifts to a woman you've never met is going to make you look DESPERATE.

A small gift would be ok, but you can deliver a gift just as effective and the cost is $0. Get over to any of the free sites that allow you to send electronic postcards in spanish. You can also personalize them with a message. If you are really serious, I'd say a gift is in order. If you are still in the feeling out stage an electronic postcard (some are very nice) could suffice.
