Author Topic: A word of caution about Latin Dream Tours  (Read 10931 times)

I signed with Latin Dream Tours about 2 weeks ago. If you are
thinking of going with this agency, my advice is proceed with
caution. Their e-mail communication leaves a lot to be desired.
I sent them my personal info and photos for their agency this
past Tuesday, and haven't heard a thing. You would think the
least they could do is write back and say "We got your info".
But so far, nothing. Nada. I was seriously thinking about going
there(Barranquilla) while off from work Thanksgiving week, but
so much for that! Hopefully, some other guys here have had some
previous experience with this agency and will comment.
Thanks.

... in response to A word of caution about Latin Dream Tour..., posted by DW1 on Oct 25, 2003

Proceed with caution is correct when speaking about Latin Dream Tours.

This is the same guy (Andre) , that was a partner of Margreath Majorca from Latin Encounters. The name was Latin Dream Girls if i remember correctly.

I paid my 395.00 membership to them in may of 2002. The same things you speak of are correct.Very little email returns, difficult to get them on the phone and in my case, most of the girls on the now defunct website , were already married.Look at his disclaimer on the bottom of the homepage.

I finaly contacted LE because some of the ladies were on there website as well. Margareath informed me that his website is not current and that she was havng many problems with him. she told me to get my list together from the girls on her site and that i would be staying at her agency anyway. Seems Andre was a RESELLER for LE.

When i arrived in Cali , Margareath informed me i needed to pay the membership fee to her. I said --WHAT !

Turns out Andre did not pay her her monthly fee per there contract. Lucky for me another Gringo , who is now one of my best friends (DEREK ARTHUR) , was there and was very good fiends with Margareath. He explained what happened to her , and she agreed to waive the fee because Andre had done this to some other men as well.

Bottom line --ANDRE IS A CROOK !!!, and had to move his operation to Barranquilla and change the name because he could not find an agency in cali who would talk to him any longer.

Be Carful before you spend money with this guy.

Oh, when i disputed the membership fee on my credit card, he threatend to sue me. I told him to take a hike and please do, as i am an attorney and would like nothing more then to get a piece of him in court.

Never heard from him again.

Good Luck if you use them.

Please venture over and post your experiences with this one at CaliGringo.com.  A word of caution - any agency that lists tours as part of their store front should be suspect from the get-go (especially if your goal is to find a life partner).

BTW, Thanksgiving week is an excellent time to visit Colombia - but don't expect to find much turkey (not celebrated in Colombia).

Thanks to Kitboy and Cancunhound for the response. I only
paid a $198 deposit, so even if I don't get it back, I
haven't lost much. To Cancunhound: I was not going for
the tour....yeah, they look fun, but I have yet to be
convinced(and may never be) that's it's the best approach
for meeting someone special. Just can't get past that
"cattle-call"-type atmosphere. Plus, my Spanish is less
than fluent. I can't think of any other situation where
that handicap would be more severe than at a tour event.
My deposit was to include my personal ad at their agency
in Barranquilla. My thinking was, even if only 4 or 5
girls wrote to me, there would be at least one or two that
would interest me. I could then go down Thanksgiving week
and meet them at the agency. Oh well....back to square 1!
I still have my membership with Latin Life Mates and may
head back to Bogota, just thought Barranquilla would be a
nice change of scenery. Again, thanks for your posts.

Or (but only if your Spanish is good) try www.caliescali.com, it's free and it works (I met my lady there). Best part is that it is NOT intented for international use, but only within Colombia and the ladies aren't expecting (but are thrilled to get) a gringo responding to their adv.

First you have to register and post your profile (picture optional). It's free, and they give you an email account too. Then check out the 'Busca Amigos' section (it asks for your ID and password, you won't be able to get into it if you didn't register). You can write to all the ladies who interest you, their response(s) will come to you through that email account. It's a general purpose email, you can send picture attachments etc. and you don't have to use it for just corresponding with their ladies. One tip: It does NOT save your outgoing messages that you send in the Busca Amigos section, so if you want to remember exactaly what you've told each lady (a good idea) write up your message in Notepad and save it for reference, then cut and paste it into the text box of your outgoing message. You won't have to do this if using the regular email, only when using the 'send me a message' option of the Busca Amigos. Good Luck in your search.

Ben

I think is you look at where is says (busca amigos) which is "search for friends" , you wil find it . I used it before and got some decent responses. I never followed up on any of the woman because i really am not interested in going back to cali anytime soon. I am looking at Cartagena ,Barranquila , and Peru for my next visits.

Although the majority of their ladies are from Cali, they do have some from other Colombian cities. Give it another look, doesn't cost you anything, can't hurt you any.

I tried to register but couldn't get past the Identity card. You have to pick witch type of card and then fill-in the blank next to it.   Nor:    What is that? Is that like a number or something? Nothing I tried would work.
I couldn’t figure it out, can anyone help?

You have to open an e-mail account with caliescali, first.
Then you use your e-mail address and login to access the personals.
