Are easy to meet if you know how.  Unlike other Latin countries, Brazilians are more guarded, perhaps that is because when they do let go, the flood gates open big time, and there is a torrent of fire and passion for you.  In other words, they want to be sure about who they are gushing, and who they are getting excited about.  In my opinion Brazilian women are the most passionate.  I fell in love with Brazil the first time I went there, it's not like any other place, or the other countries in South America, they say that God is Brazilian.

I am reminded of the song lyrics that when you have nothing, you have nothing to lose.  They got nothin' to lose, they are going to meet guys they have no idea about.  My opinion.  I consider that to be the case with the gals in the other half of Latin America, not Brazil, which is half of Lating America, larger than Australia.

Brazilians do have something to lose, and that is why it's different there.  No big dog tour agency is going to usher gringos into a room full of girls.  Brazil is more like the USA in that regard.  Prostitution is legal in Brazil, and there are clubs where you can go and think that you have died and gone to heaven.  For a price.  Agencies in Brazil used to have a bad reputation because they would actually sell the girls into prostitution.  By the way, pimping is illegal in Brazil, and agencies were more or less pimping by a different name.  That's why no respectable girl wants to be associated with an agency.  Since the Internet was privatized in 1996, things have changed a lot in Brazil, the girls are eager to join the info revolution.  It's fun to see the jokes created in Flash, or some other computer animation program, coming from Brazil.  In short, although latecomers to the computer age, the Brazilians are very cool.  And the girls love to chat.  Go to:

http://chat.terra.com.br:9781/@@INDEX@@?

The URL is correct, complete with the question mark at the end.  Navigate there and on the left of the start up page, click on "Idiomas" if you don't speak Portuguese, then click on "ingles" if you are a gringo like me.  Fun to chat.

Basically, the rule of "know before you go" holds true.  Be a good scout and be prepared before you go, and go you must.  After marriage, you must go back every year, you can't take the girl off the farm and expect to never return.  Not with a Brazilian, anyway.  Brazilians live life with a great joy, an openness that is astounding.  Unique.  Don't believe me, see for yourself.  If you don't take her back at least once a year, everybody, including you, will cry with "saudades".  There is no translation for that word.  Knowing a Brazilian is to understand.  You have to get acquainted with the girl before you go, and you have to take her home to "Mae" every Christmas or at some point during the year.  There are other places besides chat rooms to meet Brazilians.  There are a couple of agencies on the Internet which are responsible, you know how to google, so go for it.

Little B

I remember when you shot off your mouth saying:

"Only fat pigs and crabs, losers, liars, louses, mosquitoes who eat and run, and ugly walruses need to engage an agency, Oh, and bargain basement bride shoppers."

Now you're recommending agencies?

Steve

PS: I also remember when you were on your soapbox on LWL that Brazilians are not Latin.  So why are you here on the Latin board?

Man, B, someone once commented to me that he never took your bait because you're just too easy a target. Me, sometimes I just can't resist:

......"no respectable girl wants to be associated with an agency."

What kind of girls are featured, then, at your agency, the one with the fire and paixão?

Do you ever actually think before posting?

Oh, and if Brazil is paradise, how come you're not living here?

While I have no real desire to get in the middle of a battle of words, I think he in fact meant that the agencies *were* bad...

"...Agencies in Brazil used to have a bad reputation because they would actually sell the girls into prostitution. By the way, pimping is illegal in Brazil, and agencies were more or less pimping by a different name. That's why no respectable girl wants to be associated with an agency. Since the Internet was privatized in 1996, things have changed a lot in Brazil, the girls are eager to join the info revolution..."

In a desperate bid to change the subject...hey bigbdm4, any thoughts on the different regions/cities of Brazil?  Based on conversations with the Brasilians I know, Brazil really is like the US, with different regions having utterly different lifestyles and even cultures (dialects perhaps too?)

You are correct!!! Brazil has different regions, accents, cultures, lifestyles!!! It is an amazing place. When I talk to someone from Sao Paulo, or Rio, or Recife, or Maringa, or Amazonas their Portuguese words and accents are different. (Very much like Texas, Washington D.C., Jersey, NY etc.) Brasilians love the American culture, and soak up as much as they can down here.

Today is October 31st. And, unfortunately I saw a sad copy of the Halloween holiday down here. The children are just starting to get accustomed to it. It is the day of witches here, and there are only about 4 costumes you can buy. Witch, Vampire, Black something-or-other, spider-witchy-thingy, and some scream black outfit. That's it... Can you imagine the looks when my daughter was a princess, and sons a futbol player, and blues brother walked up. Some of the others rushed home and changed to something else. The other kids here were excited for other options.  I hosted a party, even though I was a little under the weather... and the kids were so happy!!!

I've been to some dance clubs here. 50%-90% of the music played was all in English. Their clothes, etc. etc. reflect the desire to learn, adopt, and have many of the US things. There are little English schools everywhere providing classes. I am asked continually to teach private English lessons for 30-50$ Reais an hour. (Hahaha mostly by the men) Brasilians are very open to learning many new things, even though the President has said on several occasions in the past year that Brasil is large enough that they only need to know Portuguese. The people do not reflect this.

It is true... in the past many agencies did only sell prost.. however I've talked to many many many woman here that have expressed a desire to meet American, Latin or other foreign men through the internet, or other ways. The times are changing...

I am going to the USA to visit next Tuesday for a couple of days.... hahahaha, don't think I'll post my trip report there. risos!!! I'm going the opposite way!!! Hope all your holidays coming up are warm, happy, and joyful these next 2 months!!!
Peace,
Cheryl

Not much talk of venezuela here, but many consider them amongst the most beautiful in the world. BTW, your list neglected to mention Miss Dominican republic who is the current Miss Universe.

my ex was from Venezuela. She used to ridicule the contestants for Miss Venezuela as most had some form of surgery.

Having travelled much in Venezuela and Ecuador I can only say that in my view the women in Ecuador are on average better looking. Of course there are stunners in Venezuela but for my taste the average are too rotund.

Having said that the soap operas on view down here in Ecuador feature actrices from every Latin country you can imagine and the majority have had some kind of surgery - its very in vogue. The Brazilian actices are most often the ones who appear most natural ( or have better surgeons ).
