... in response to New Yorker answers, posted by Ralph on Oct 29, 2003

Ralph,

George S spends money on free agents?!!! The Mets payroll was just as high as the Yanks, but they only got half as many victories....lmao! You, being a native New Yorker rooting for the Dead Sox?!!!! Tsk, tsk, tsk....since you left us, you have lost your way. It's ok, I know that you're rooting for the Dead Sox, only because you're in DR right now...

Ralph, give me a holla, Wifey wants to visit DR early in the New Year! Would love to discuss the Yankees & Mets over a dozen or so Presidente's!

p.s. Typical Dead Sox move in firing of Grady. The front office didn't have the cajones to accept the fact, that they didn't get support that Pedro needed on the mound. Grady didn't have any other choice!

Actually the Mets payroll was over 40 MILLION less;-) The Mets were getting silly and signing has beens to big deals. The yanks have done that as well, but george just throws more money at the problems and eats his mistakes.

As for Grady gettin fired. . . . I was watching the game and I think if he was on Georges payroll he could not have managed that inning any worse. Pedro rarely pitches into the eigth, he's a little dude. The sox still had Timlin, Emry and their closer available. In game 7, pedros job was to be winning after 7, and he was. Give the ball to the pen for 2 innings and you win.

I felt both Grady and Torre sent bad messages to their pens in the series. They both showed their pens that they had little or no respect or confidence in them. So I felt that whoever won would have bullpen problems in the WS.

Pitching in the WS is tough. Doing so while knowing your manager thinks you can't get it done, is even harder.

Let me know when you are planning the DR, trip!

Yeah, you are right the money man will buy another big named player to enhance the roster, but deep inside you know Florida will do it again. By the way this was a great series.
Ralph, I plan on coming down for at least a week in January. Hopefully, we can hook up and catch up on old times. Say hi to the crew.
