I want to rent a car in Cali for 17 days and for 13 days.

What is the cheapest car rental.

Most taxi driver rent their cabs for about $40,000 pesos a day. Can I rent a taxi without the driver also or preferably an unmarked car.

There is an agency at C47 and Sexta that rents new Chev. Swifts at $100.000 a day. Cheaper rates longer term.

Taxis are dirt cheap, car rentals are more than here.It costs about $1 to take a taxi several miles.I rented a car one time,$55 a day for a car I could get here for $20.Plus,you don't really want to drive there. It awhole different set of rules. When I rented the car I had a colombian drive for me.You can hire drivers, not normal taxi drivers, unmarked cars. The price depends on who you find,$20 -$40 a day, some speak english and will show you around.Thats more regular taxi rides than you could do in a day. They probably won't let you just take the car,its very important to them. And why would you want to?

Having your own car is a great convinence. Waiting around for a taxi is a waste of time. Maybe a car with a driver is the best idea. Even at a buck a ride going from place to place all day like I do sometimes really adds up.

I've never had to wait more than a minute to catch a taxi in Cali.  When leaving the condo, I simply call my gate guys and have them ring one - they then call me when it shows up - never more than 5 minutes.  If going to a location in Cali not frequented by taxis (which is rare - but take Cali Viejo for example), same tactic - have restaraunt ring one.  I agree the rentals are expensive.  However, I would rent if I didn't have a driver for a stay in say Darien up in Lago Calima - where it is a hastle without wheels.
