Well guys, i have heard it all now for sure. I just asked my wife to trim my hair for me, someting she has regularly done in the time we have been married and she tells me --I cannnot trim your hair because i am ON MY PERIOD and it would be bad for your hair. WHAT HuhHuhHuhHuh??

Yes,she says this is true and when a salon worker in colombia has her period , she will not cut a persons hair.
The last time i heard, we were living in the 21st cetury, not the middle ages.

Has anyone heard of this before. Did i just crawl out from under a rock somewhere.

... in response to COLOMBIANAS AND HOW STUPID THEY CAN BE !..., posted by Kiltboy1 on Oct 16, 2003

There is going to be a rummage sale at our apartments this weekend.  I told my wife maybe we would buy something.  She asked what there would be to buy.  I mentioned clothes, among other things.  She was aghast at the idea of wearing someone else's clothes.  She said "What if they had a contagious disease?"  (What is the emoticon for rolling my eyes in disbelief?)

Anyway, as far as cutting your hair while she is on her period I suggest you wait a week.  I don't my wife coming near me with anything sharp when she's on her period.

Steve

PS: In Spanish La Regla means a rule, a ruler, or a period (as in menstrual).

Haven't heard of that one - but I suspect a salon worker would rather earn a buck than bow to superstition.  (PS - I tried letting the Mrs. trim only ONCE - now I get one of her girlfriends for the job)

Never had quite that experience, but my wife won't let me dry out my umbrella in the house.  I asked her why, as I have always done this in the past.  It isn't dangerous or anything and there is an area out of the way where I can put the umbrella till it drys.  She said it is just a superstitious thing.  I ask her how can she believe in superstition when she believes very strongly in God.  I personally don't believe in God, but I'm not superstitious, so why would she be superstitious when she supposedly has God in her corner.

Her answer was that she just likes to cover all her bases.

She is from Cali.

She said to not stand in front of the open refrigerator for long periods, it causes arthritis.

Another is don't take a shower right after ironing clothes. I'm still not sure why. She also cross herself (good Catholic girl) before getting under the water in the shower.

My wife also cuts my hair but she's never refused on account of her period. I'll have to ask her about that one.

As for having an open umbrella in the house. That is a long-known old wive's tale as being bad luck, even in this country.

All this talk about keeping fridge doors open & ironing is greek to me.  I will remember that arthritis one and use it next time that fridge is wide open.  As for the ironing, perhaps someone knows of a Cali superstition that I can utilize to get her to iron?

The one that really cracked me up was the tradition of shedding all clothes and buying new upon the arrival of New Years (I nipped that one in the bud 1st year BTW).

I had a lady that I was talking to a couple of years ago (not the one I'm engaged to now) tell me that if a woman wears brand new yellow panties on Christmas eve that she will get married within the next year. She actually did both, so that proves that it works, right?
