... in response to Did you have a marriage visa?, posted by Calipro on Oct 10, 2003

Hi Calipro.

No , i had the marriage visa out of the Atlanta consolute.

Margui first started out at 500.00 US , but when i sent all the paperwork down and she saw i had a child(i have joint custody , but what difference does me having a child by an american woman have anything to do with getting married in cali) , she said the judge would not do it for that , and it would be 1000.00 US. I was pissed a hell, but in a bind because it was 4 weeks before our wedding and i did not want things to get screwed up.

My wife contacted other juezez , and the most expensive told her 200,000 pesos. The problem was that all the juezez were booked already for my date, and we aready had airplane tickets for the honeymoon and hotel reservations.

So, i do feel like i was taken to the woodshed .

What do you think Huh

Yeah, I think they got you. I paid $800 to get married but I only had a tourist visa and the lawyer filled out my wifes papers so she wouldn't have any problems at the embassy. If you shop around you could probably find a notory to over look the tourist visa for a $100.

Wow, 1K is steep.  Good advice, your fiancee can go directly to the notary - then back into all the necessary requirements for civil marriage, it is not difficult and there certainly is no need to shell out that much to get married.

Yes, i did not know any better at the time and trusted LE and Marguis advice. The only person that made out on that deal was the agency. I understand that she needs to make a profit, but i got "GRINGO" taken. I just do not want other men to get taken for more money then it actually costs.Margui is not a bad womanat all, but there are other options on the civil marriage.

Thanks for the updated information.  You've confirmed to me why I'm going to make Latin Encounters my first stop.  Its been my experience that for every complaint there are pobably 10 or more compliments that go unsaid.  With that formula I'm sure Margareth's services have helped way more then not.  I'm looking forward to meeting her.
