Hi Party People. What are your experiences regarding mailing letters and packages to the Dominican Republic?

I sent a package to my friend who lives in Santo Domingo last Monday morning. I sent the package via USPS Express Mail. I called him last night to see if he received it. He received the package on Friday WITH ALL THE CONTENTS. Later.

I wish I could answer this, but have never sent anything down to the DR. I do know people that have with no problems. I think if you use Fed Ex you will be fine. I would not use regular mail etc.

A great  place to ask would be www.dr1.com  They have some great forums for DR info.

I need to send down a digital camera and a cell phone, but one of the DR1 members will be in NY in a week or so, so I will probably send down with him.

Assuming your letter/package gets there at all, I can guarantee you that anything of value will be removed before it reaches the intended recipient.
