Karin's is my favorite pizza. It easily beats most of the chain-store pizza in the U.S., in my opinion.

Most of the ladies seem to love Crepes y Waffles. I like their desserts. The entrees are fine, but not as good as the few creperies I've been to in the U.S.

Faro Granada was great, but expensive for a tacaņo like me. Tizanos (sp?) was underwhelming... and expensive.

I always love Lenos & Carbon for a good heap o' meat. I find the steaks there generally better than U.S. steak joints, except expensive ones like Ruth's Chris Steakhouse.

Supposedly, the best beef in Colombia is in the cattle ranching town of Monteria. That's what my Monterian amiga told me, and I had to agree. I ordered the "lady size" = 500 g. I think, but it was well over a pound of meat, and extremely tender & tasty. I was crazy to finish it all; got a stomachache from so much beef.

The best Italian restaurant is Tutti Sapori, CAlle 29N Norte, 6BN-51   tele: 680-3863
The owner is from Argentina, and was the head chef of one of the best Italian restuarants here in Atlanta for many years.  Speaks perfect english and is always there to make sure you enjoyed your meal.
give it a try.

Crepes and waffles. The chicken curry for about $4 is about as good as anything I have eaten.2nd would be the restaurant at the Pacifico Royale, they have a shrimp dish I really like.Shrimp is expensive,2 or 3 times a filet mignon, but the filet is not so good.Lenos Cabon?Lots of food but not up to US steak house quality at all in my opinion.Actually I never had a good steak in Colombia. The meat is not very good quality.
But you guys talk about some places I never heard off that sound good.Brazilian or Argentine food sounds good.
I really don't much like Colombian food.Tough steaks.Dry corn aripas(?).Soup in 90 degree weather.
Cuban food I like. They know how to take a poor tough peice of meat and stew it ubtill its falling apart tender.
I am usually real happy to get home.

Pete,

If you are a steak lover the Argentine beef is excellent, especially at the nicer restaurants.  I had some huge tenderloins that were so flavorful, and very inexpensive.

By far the best resturant (and one of the most expensive) is the Club Colombia. It is a private club. You can't get in unless you are a member or are invited.

The top of the line in my opinion is Girasoles just two blocks south of Chipi Chapi. Actually two restaurants one Seafood and one meat--- expensive! ! !
Lunch at Paladar walking distance from LE mid priced but wonderful. Carambolo is in the neighborhood. Paharita Pinta behind the Colombo language Institute is great outside under umbrellas at night with good music. And as I often have said, Check out El Penon for ten or fifteen restaurants in a five block area. Another lunch spot is clowns a block from the Dann and the Inter in El Penon. Of course for MEAT Lenos Y Carbon in the malls. Simon Parilla for Sancocho Gagina on sunday and Frijoles Verde for beans and rice Antiochian style. Now you know why I am over weight. JIM C

sorry I mis-spelled "sancocho"

This is the corrective post I made IMMEDIATELY after posting the mistake in spelling.  My edit function does not work.  However this post was MYSTERIOUSLY deleted.  Seems the monitor of this board has joined the "good ole boy" network, or now to be called the "loser, can't get a life network".

I'm not so sure about the "Good Ole Boy" network but I hear the "conspiracy theorists" are looking for a few new members. (-:

Anyway, your original correction was not deleted, look a little closer.

Hey Hummmmmmmmmbert still swinging that red pencil I see. By the by,  what do you recommend, tootsie pops or regular? How about the all day variety. I heard you were cruising Ventolinis. Is it true that an ice cream cone works almost as well as a lollipop. I bet you even help with the homework. You are such a nice guy. jim c

Dear Humbert

You give yourself too much credit. For me to hate you would mean that you are significant. Just a note, should you go to Cuba, you can't date the ones in the red uniforms. jim c
