Pablo,

I'm not saying that it is a perfect method that will weed out all scammers. Agreed, nobody will say "you got me Zack, I'm a gold digger." But some will quietly move on to an easier target.

It probably works best on the huge players, the ladies who have no intention on moving to the USA, who join agencies just to be wined and dined, and have money given to them.
These ladies are looking for a man who has the word "doormatt" written on their forehead. I  have encountered a few.

In addition to being up front, I also tell them that I give money to help my mother, and also donate to various charities, which is true. I try to paint a picture of myself as someone who is giving and generous, but also
someone who has been around the block, has a backbone, and is not a doormatt.

Zack,
I think you are creating a situation.  I don't think you will have any problem at all attracting the right woman.  The "scammers" are very easily detectable.  I only met one and it was obvious.

Hey Now,

You're right. The scammers thus far have been pretty detectable.

Agree. If you give most folks a blank slate they will eventually (given enough time) tell you who they are--that's why I like open ended questions. Course you have to listen to the answers and take them at face value. It's when we rationalize and purposely look away that we miss the red flag.

For example: If a lady tells you she's moody, you can take it to the bank that there will be major mood swings to contend with in your future if you stick it out.

NW Jim,

I know what you are saying. But the problem is, if you wait for them to throw a red flag, you may have a long wait, as in el colombiano's case. His lady did not throw a huge red flag until they were engaged.

Personally, I would rather weed out the bad ones early on.
That would save a lot of time, money, and heartache.

i am wondering if her father needed the suit for the wedding, maybe he didnt want to look poor walking his daughter down the isle with old clothes, and i can understand that, but if he just wanted a new siut because he wanted the foreigner to pay for it, well thats another story.

Are you joking?  He said suite, not suit.  A suite as in apartment, condominium, etc.  Not a suit of clothes.  I want to believe you were making a joke but I don't see any trace of joke in your post.
