I was invited to join this forum by another post-er because he knew I was interested in the Latin culture... and enjoy learning about it.  Even though... through learning… I make mistakes.  

Though I've had to endure more destructive criticism and posts than constructive criticism and posts on this forum thus far, it has been informative, and the participants are very knowledgeable and have great ideas for many different subjects that pertain to SA.  There are a wide range of personalities and experience... all though sometimes through their rough approach provide insight, perspective, advise, opinions, and experiences that are informative, helpful...etc.. etc. and at times entertaining.

My reasons for moving here was not to find a SA man.  However, I am now surrounded by them, and can't help but love their culture, language, ways... etc. etc. even more!!!!  AND of course would like to understand and learn more about them and the country... and this is a great place to do so, in addition to the day to day living here.  And I hope I can contribute to this forum as well in a positive way.

Cherinha.. I warn you to take everything you hear on this board with a grain of salt. Remember that all of the perspective expressed here on the board comes from OUTSIDERS. The best way to learn is for you to become fluent in the language and make friend with locals. You will soon be able to talk candidly with them. The best people to talk to are those that have lived in the USA and already know the culture so that they can draw some comparisons for you.

In my case I have the good fortune to make a friend who told the "real deal" about how women operate in Colombia in comparison to the USA. As someone who has had girlfriends in both countries he had a great persepctive. I was already figuring everything out through my relationships with COlombianas but if it hadnt been for him it would have taken a lot longer to learn the tricks of the trade.

I truly am sorry that some of the posters were so suspicious of you.  Its a pleasure to have an intelligent, articulate woman on the board.  You mentioned that you were in Salt Lake City, Idaho and Oregon for part of your life.  I am an Oregonian with roots in the same places, who is looking for a Latina. I spent a month in Bogota and Cartagena in early June-early July.  Just out of curiosity, and if not too personal a question, do you have an LDS background?
