I have spent some time on other discussion boards prior to my recent (and first) trip to Colombia, including Medellin and Cartagena.  This was my 28th country to visit, and one of the best as well.  I am now seeking a home on this discussion board, and some informed advices from the more experienced visitors, as I will soon be returning to Colombia (Cali and Medellin).

I will be happy to offer what little experience I have from my 3 weeks in Colombia to anyone who seeks it.  To be honest, my main desire is to get in touch with the members who have good information on things related to my return to these two cities, specifically, a safe apartment to stay in for say 3 weeks and, what clubs and other fun places I should check out while I’m there.

Thanks for all who wish to help.  It is greatly appreciated.  I look forward to your responces.

Howdy Flux,

Welcome to Planet-Love.  You've been to a lot of countries for your age.  Kudos to you!  We look forward to your posts and input on the board.

You did not mention in your post but I am assuming as you joined here, you have an interest in Latinas.  Looking forward to some trip reports.

Pablo

Now let’s see...anagram methodology 101:

Snap38 = four letters, 2 numerals
Flux21  =  four letters, 2 numerals = hmmmm...naw, it can't be.

(Inside joke Flux)

Welcome to the gang!

Thanks for the welcome Pablo. Yes it is true, I LOVE Latinas.  As far as sharing my travel experiences, I wouldn't know were to start, so I'll just respond to any questions one may have.

I'm really excited about returning to Colombia, I just hope I can find the right people on this board to help me with the important basics, like finding a nice apartment to stay in.

My plan of attack is this.  I've already checked out Medellin, so next month I'm going to fly down to Cali, stay in an apartment for a few weeks as I get to know the city, then fly to Argentina and do the same.  Then I'll pick my favorite of the three and set up a more perminent residence.  So, If I'm lucky enough to find a friend on this board who can help me find such a place in each city, I would be SO SO HAPPY, and eternaly grateful.

(sorry I wasn't able to catch the inside joke)

I thought that place was "off limits". Even the Colombian travel agents here in south Florida recommend to stay away from the city as it is too dangerous.
I would be very interested to hear your trip report to that city. Especially when I asked many Colombians living here in south Florida they all said (100%) that Medellin has the prettiest women in Colomvbia.

Ironically when returning from Cali recently, I made a connection in Houston - and sat next to a young guy who was from Medellin, he of course was intrigued that I was returning from Cali, and WTF was I doing there:  interesting discussion followed, he loved Colombia, Medellin, etc.. - but had a big caveat, "it's great to visit, but to live there?"

Just food for thought.  Medellin is probably as safe as Cali IMHO - but with a little cooler climate and maybe more questionable barrios - but you won't be going to those places anyway - I wouldn't scratch Medellin from the "places to visit" list.
