I just received the approval for my petition for the fiancee visa!!! One day less than four months (Texas service center). What a great feeling!!!

Hopefully the rest of the process will go well. I was really surprised that it took only about four months when the average lately has been at least 5 - 6 months.

A very happy gringo!!

No, the forms and procedures have not changed yet. Just the mailing address. On my NOA's they are still called the INS.

[This message has been edited by Starman]

1. First off, I did a lot of research on the internet and gleaned other information from men who also filed a fiancée petition.

2. I used an Acco two hole binder as requested by the INS with a cover letter containing an index to each section separated by tabs at the bottom of the binder. The cover sheet also contained information that made my intentions clear and made the INS case worker's job easier.

3. Form I129F. I used Adobe Acrobat to fill out the form. Be very careful and do not leave any spaces blank. Use additional paper formatted similar to the form for additional information if there is no room on the form. If your fiancée has any children, include that info as well.

4. Two completed biographical information forms (G325A), filled out like #3 above. Make sure you get your fiancée’s signature. Print out the ADIT photo requirements from the INS web site. The photos must be exactly as described and make sure that you and your fiancée do not wear any earrings, or other jewelry. Make sure that your right ear is not covered by hair. Try to find a photographer that is familiar with these type of photos if possible. Attach the ADIT photo of the petitioner and applicant to the forms.

5. Copy of our birth certificates (including her son).

6. Copy of our divorce decrees if applicable.

7. Proof of relationship (i.e. photos together, letters, airline tickets, engagement ring receipt, passport stamps, etc.)

8. Affidavit of intent/desire to marry within thirty days of arrival in the US. Certified.

9. Copy of my fiancée’s ID and passport.

10. Certified copies of all documents and letters translated into English where necessary.

About 75 pages in the package total. This is typical.

I filed on April 16th, 2003. I mailed the package next day certified mail via USPS. I received the first NOA with a week. Received the 2nd NOA approval on the 22nd of August with the approval date on the 15th. The 2nd NOA receipt says that they have sent the original package to the National Visa processing center and that it should take about two weeks. Then they will notify the embassy in Caracas.

There are many other details involved, but that will required more typing than I'm prepared to do at this time. I'll answer any individual questions you may have time permitting.
