Hi Party People. As I mentioned in a previous post, I had a nice time (with the TLC tour) in Panama City, two weeks ago. Even though I didn't find that special woman, I thought the trip was worth it. I will return there in the future. NOTE: I haven't given up on Colombia by any means. If there's anyone going there (Panama City) any time soon, I would like to suggest staying at the Hotel Montreal on Avenida Espana. It has a small bar and restaurant, a computer (you can use it free of charge), and a small pool on the roof. I stayed there for eight days (for $22.00 a night). The room was small, but clean. And the hotel staff were very nice. Another place you may considering visiting is Sol de la India. It's a big souvenir shop (five minute walking distance from the Hotel Montreal). It has many items you may be interested in. They're (the souvenirs) are of good quality and inexpensive, too. Take care.

The girls were into it. But its not a desperation situation like Colombia sounds like. That's the vibe I got from the guys who had been to cali and/or BQ before and then on to Panama. I didnt have a shortage of girls who were serious into hooking up with me. I got the one I wanted.....

Well, even though I didn't find anyone special, I didn't say (or imply) that I disliked it. I did meet a few ladies there (at the Saturday night party) I would like to see again. By the way, are you from San Diego? Take care.

Hey Dun. When I was there, I was never under that impression that the females didn't want to speak to me (because I'm black). If anything, I noticed that most of the people I've met there were polite and friendly. If you have a chance, check it out. Later.

An American here in Cali who is waiting for his wifes visa (November) plans to take her up there in the meantime so I'll pass that info along to him.

I would suggest Costa Rica over Panama ANY day of the week.

Although, Panama certainly has more Colombians. Come to think of it, that is probably why they are going to Panama - no visa required. Whereas in Costa Rica Colombians need a visa. I guess I just answered my own question.

Panama does require a visa for Colombians (and for Americans for that matter).  Have you actually been to Panama?

Yes I have, many times. And there is no visa required that you need to get in advance. You just buy it in the airport. Colombians dont need one either.. Good luck in your search for enlightenment.

I haven't looked over the lonely-planet guides to either one but my overall impression is that they're both way more expensive than Colombia. Also comparing my brief visits to each I prefer Panama City over San Jose. At least you can breath there since the sea breeze blows the smog off.

Your not the first to be turned off my San Jose. As a city, it isn't the most beautiful. But don't let it fool you. All the neighboring suburbs located in the hills like Heredia are absolutely beautiful. Not to even mention the Atlantic and Pacific coasts. Costa Rica has been a more popular spot with retire's than Panama mostly because of the climate. It is cool and windy in Costa Rica (maybe not so much San Jose) as opposed to Panama City which is right at sea level and always sweltering hot.

Economically speaking, Costa Rica is still cheaper than Panama even though the influx of tourists hasnt helped things. As far as women goes, Costa Rica takes the cake by far.
