Brings back a lot of memories...I spent 19 consecutive years in school and work looking at equations and econ graphs.  Seems like a lifetime ago.

Did you sell the hardware (that custom made catamaran) or just the 'business'?

Great Idea Gandolph

Knowing what the members do for a living seems to humanize them for me. It gives them more of an identity than just a handle. It almost makes me want to throw a party to learn more. Maybe next year in Cartagena. JIM C

Jim c,
You have a good point there. and I've thought many times why there is no organized effort to have some sort of social gathering so that the men and their brides(or brides to be) can come together at least once(maybe annually if it were successful)for an evening of food, fun, dancing, and getting to know each other. It is obvious that some friendships have developed as a result of this board and guys meeting each other for the first time during trips to Colombia. Any thoughts on this?

I am very serious about buying a small property in Cartagena suitable for conversion to a small guesthouse (less then ten rooms). The entry level for future business in Key West has become too high and I believe that Colombia will turn around in the next two years. Cartagena is the kind of tourist city that I am familliar with, so Maybe I will have a place for us to have the party. AA has three day getaways on sale from time to time so it could be a possibility. Who knows? jimc

PS pull up keywestbargains.com and you can see the Barrister House one of my properties.

Hi. I'm a caseworker (civil service title), but my functional title is interviewer/investigator for the Office Of Child Support Enforcement (under the Human Resource Administration, City Of New York). I've been working there for 13 years.

After reading the biography of Gearge Soros and learning that this man made a billion dollars in one day, I knew that was the business for me, international currency trader.

When I invested money in heating oil and gasoline and lost my *arse* in a matter of two weeks, I knew that someone was going to have a nice vacation at my expense and I wanted to collect dead presidents just as easily, commodities trader.

Real estate investor, I don't keep'em-I just flip'em.

I am interested in international real estate.I have seen values go up about 3500% here in the last 30 years,300% in the last 6 years in some cases. But it won't happen again, too expensive now.Looking for that place with the potential for appeciating several 100%.Maybe somewhere in Latin America?
