I think this is a strong generization.  While this may be true in many cases, and vary from culture to location to upbringings, it is a very bold statement to make on the whole.  I have found here- that as an "American" woman, surrounded by Brasilairos, that the opposite tends to generally apply.  However, everyone seems to "live in the moment" down here.... yet again.... another generalization. Smiley Many volumes of research documents and books could only touch the surface of this subject...haha

Women probably live in the moment because they tend to be more emotional and less analytical than men.But individuals can vary trmendously.I think Colombians in general live more for the moment.I think part of it is they
don't tend to think they can do much about things anyway.
A lady who wants to come here as part of her plan for her life can have more long term goals to which she may sacrifice the short term,as in putting up with a guy she doesn't care for.
Heard an old saying on TV the other day, quoting sme philosopher,Horace I think. It said something to the effect "live for this day and try to put as little expectation in to tommorow as possible." Sounds like a plan to me.
As I get older I realise my own mortality and the limited time we have and perhaps the limited health to enjoy it with. Its a shame to miss it thinking too much about tommorow or yesterday.
Of course you need some planning to avoid being destitute, which could take the fun out of things. But once you have enough perhaps its time to enjoy.
Heard a comedian onetime say " I been around this old world 45 years and I haven't seen a herse go by yet with suitcases on top."

BINGO!

This is why there aren't many female CEOs in Fortune 500 companies. Women are wired differently.

Generally I agree, but of course it depends on the individuals.

An example: One of my best friends battled for years with his AW wife to save agressively in their 401k's, to postpone the purchase of a new car, to take less extravagant vacations, etc.  Now they are getting divorced and she will get half of the marital wealth they accumulated primarily because of his efforts.  Needless to say, he's a little bitter.

I have found that many women view the man's income and assets as "ours" and her income and assets as "hers".  My ex was cheap with her own money, but never seemed to mind spending mine.  Funny how that works!

Men marry women hoping they don't change, then they do, while women marry men hoping they'll change, then they don't!
