Hi Guys,

Anyone experiences with ths other Bogotan airport??
Were is it situated and is it possible to have good logistical transport possibilities to the city?
What may I pay (without being f...d over!) to a taxtista to bring me to the Centro??
Sorry for my questions but I never was in Colombia.

My flight will be with Iberia to Madrid and from there with AVIANCA to this airport.
Flying through Atlanta would take 2 hours longer and (I guess) a lot more security hussels.

all in € 843,-
I think this is a good price considering I have to fly in from Europe.

Is it possible to buy tickets the next day to Cartagena?
Or do the experts think it is full and so I should arranage this in advance?
I will travel from 23-10 till 19-11.
My experiences with Iberia are VERY GOOD and I realy love their orange juice on board:-)

Thanks Guys...can't wait to get to Locombia!!!!
jajajajajaj

As others have stated, El Dorado is the main international airport in town... It's on the west side of town and it's an inexpensive taxi ride to anywhere in town... Just be sure to use a clearly marked taxi outside of customs / baggage claim... There are plenty...

Yes, you can buy tickets anytime to Cartagena... There are many flights daily to / from Cartagena... The last time we made this trip, the plane was only 1/3 full... No problema...

If you are only staying overnight in Bogota, then traveling to Cartagena, there is a Travelers Suite only a stones throw from the airport... They offer free shuttle service to /from the airport, plus a special overnight travelers rate... Somethin like 130,000 pesos a night...

Buen Suerte...

You can get a taxi right outside the international gate to the Centro area nd it shouldn't cost you more than $20.000 pesos which is $7 or $8 dollars.  I don't know what that translates into Euros.

Don't take a taxi from the street at the airport but get one right outside the international terminal exit gate.  They have a window just around the right side of the exit where you can get a receipt for the taxi which will insure you will be safe.  They aren't going to pull any monkey business on you when they have their information recorded.  There is also a money exchange right outside the international gate to the left.

I don't think you will have any trouble getting tickets to Cartegena when you get there.  I would recommend flying AeroRepublico as they have very good rates.  My wife got some kind of travel package for us last October for 3 days lodging at the DeCamaron hotel and round trip airfare on AeroRepublico for two for $452.

452 dollars? That is cheap for such a deal:-)
I guess only a one way ticket to Cartagena will cost up to 80-90 US $.....for one person!!(from BOG)

Pesos?? Dollars??? Euros??? reais??Deutsche Marks??? OOO well we Europeans are getting used to live with a small pocket calculator;-)

O do not worry about the monkey business!! Monkeys belong in zoo's not at airports!!
I lived pretty long time in Argentina and Brasil so I think I know all "monkey" business,LOL!

Hans El Dorado is the main terminal in Bogota where all the international flights land. The other, and I can't remember the name, Puente Aereo or something like that, is a short, free bus shuttle ride from inside the main and is where the national flights by Summa (formerly Aces and Avianca) arrive and depart. If you go to Barrancabermeja (don't!) you'll probobly go with Summa or Aerorepublica.

Hallo Cali vet!!

thanks for the info:-)

Do not worry amigo!! I am A german but not completely crazy!!
So I will not go to Barranca.....;-)
It is not that I am a coward....no...But simply too risky for a gringo like me.
In such a smaller city words get arround.....then para-soldiers are at the door of the hotel were I stay.
To collect "protection"money....or even to "collect"ME!!!

Then what???

WEll I sure want to loose some kilo's.....but not in a para-military prison!!!
;-)

regards
