I don't even believe in the death penalty but if I had the guy in front of me who designed the pop ups that keep taking over my computer I would shoot the son of a bit-h.Maybe I would accept giving them 10 years in jail. These people need to be prosecuted.I just lost a long post trying to get rid of the pop ups.
Tommorow I start with sbc yahoo dsl.I have had AOL for years but it is awfull.Even though I have their dsl I can't get on after 7 PM ,or if I am on it will cut me off.And pop ups come on as fast as I can cancel them out.
How do I get rid of pop ups?My biggest pop up is trying to sell me a program to get rid of pop ups but I will be damned if I will reward them for being the biggest offender. It's backmail.

... Mozilla as a web browser. It allows you to turn off pop-ups and not only that, you may except some web sites from your no pop-up list, for instance those who use pop-up boxes for password input. Here's their web site: http://mozilla.org/ I like it tons better than MS Internet Explorer.

As for MSIE, here's a web site you might me interested in reading: http://microsuck.com/content/ms-hidden-files.shtml

mozilla is where it's at.  I'm not concerned about high speed here in the casa, so I pay a whole $4.99/month - kamudi.net.  Pop ups?  Well I run linux here, with that browser - no problema.

Hi Jeff,

I have seen that site before but under their old name.  Their new site now says, "After four years of being known primarly as [ahem]Microsoft.com, the flagship site of the Microsoft Eradication Society now sports a new, slightly more family-friendly name: Microsuck."  At least it's easier now referring them to their new site.

After reading that information it sounds like Big Brother Hard Drive.  Scary stuff.

Thanks for the heads up.

There is a couple things to help minimize it.  Notice I didnt say completely.  go to www.download.com  do a search for a file called ad aware.  download it and run it.  It will find a bunch of spyware and adware on your computer.  also do a search for a program called kill popup.  and install that.  Those will help.  Both programs are free.

I agree with the ad aware program too, BUT a little note: if you have more than a couple of hundred of these spyware files and your Ad aware program goes about getting rid of them, sometimes that will screw your computer up. The first time I had the program it found 262 files. Once I got DSL and I could surf faster, it found 542 files. The first time it worked fine, the second time with about twice as many files, it fried my hard drive. Anyways, be careful with the Ad Aware. I recommend it though.

There's also one called Panicware that's free. It seemed to work when I needed it but my ISP is popup free now.
