Cordoba

We took Bueller’s advice and stayed at the Felipe II Hotel.  Price for a double sized bed was 62 pesos.  Cordoba is the second largest city in Argentina which was founded in the 15th century.  There are a number of universities making it a good place to visit.  My first impressions were somewhat disappointing as the city appears to be more run down and not as clean as BsAs.  There is a large plaza in the center of town close to our hotel that is closed to traffic.  Most of the stores close in the afternoon for siesta from 1:00 to around 4:30, a custom not done in BsAs.  Although I saw numerous ladies that were attractive in Cordoba, there was nowhere near the number of beautiful ladies that were in BsAs.  I was expecting it to be crawling with attractive ladies after reading Bueller’s trip report but did not find this to be the case.  I did however see some very attractive ladies there and they seemed to be much friendly than BsAs women.  These gals seemed more traditional, and a few wore hair down to their waist which I go bonkers over.

One of the malls in town close to the central part, shoot, I can't remember the name off hand was a nice place to hang out.  We meet some very nice ladies here.  One particular lady was so beautiful that I was so tongue tied as she walked by me that I could not even say hello to her or do the camera routine on her.  I am kicking myself still for just staring with an obvious dazed look on my face without saying something.  She was an easy 11 or 12 on a scale to ten!

BTW, the malls in Latin America are every bit as nice as their American counterparts.  Actually, come to think of it, I'd say they are nicer looking with all the tiled marble and such.  The income is very low in Argentina and it baffles me to see some of the prices such as clothing at these stores.  I decided not to bring any tennis shoes thinking they would be too casual...big mistake.  I quickly got blisters from my "comfortable" broken in leather shoes so had to find some sneakers there.  Not an easy task, finding size 12.  I paid 300 pesos for a pair of Brazilian made Nike's and that is one months wage for some of the people there.  Domestic shoes are cheaper but still are expensive.  As soon as I slipped on those Nike's I felt relief.  Ahhh, Phil Knight, I could kiss ya, Argentine style of course.  The moral, be sure to do more walking at home with proven comfortable shoes before you go to LA as your going to do lots more walking than you imagine and don't worry about your shoe image.

There wasn’t as much to do in Cordoba in regards to night life.  The locals recommended a club called Shark, which we visited.  We arrived there at 10:30 and duh, it was closed.  We went down the street to a restaurant to kill some time, have a couple beers and listen to some good live music.  Yep you guessed it, they were all English lyrics.  We went back to Sharks at 1:00 AM and they were finally open.  They had a dance floor with seating around it with a bar off to the side.  The women came with their girlfriends.  Surprisingly, there were a number of middle age ladies here along with the younger crowd.  Not as many blondes here as compared to BsAs but still the ladies were very beautiful.  They closed their doors at 7:00 AM (yes 7 AM!) The only mishap on my trip was here at Sharks as I laid my reading glasses down on the table and went back later to see that they had "walked".  Crap!

On our way back to the hotel I could not believe how many people were out and about on the streets from the night before (or was that morning?).  My buddy noticed a couple fine ladies crossing the street and commented to the taxi driver how beautiful they were but all he did was laugh.  When questioned as to why, he shook his finger and said transvestites.  I teased my friend mercilessly on that one as he slowly sunk down in his seat!

We were recommended by the locals to visit IL Gatto, an Italian restaurant because of their great food. Don't bother as it was just fair.  Rather, a killer place is called La Mammas.  Great food, wine, ambiance, and service.  Eating dinner takes a long time in Argentina.  I think we were eating our meal for three hours.  I think I gain five pounds during my three week visit.  On a side note, bring some Imodium AD as these Southern Hemisphere bugs can get ya down quick.  I did not drink any tap water and tried to be careful what I ate but still had a couple bouts with Montezuma's revenge.  Nothing worse when with a lady to have to excuse yourself to el bano.

I found out later that outside of town is the place to be in Cordoba.  Little towns up in the hills are very quaint and beautiful.  If you have the time while in Cordoba be sure to go visit these places.  I focused on being in town because that's where the ladies were but if you had a honey with you it would be a different story.

I enjoyed the lovely old cathedral in the center of town.  There was some festival going on and a procession of young ladies all dressed up in long colorful dresses passed me by and went into the church for a special service.  I don't know what the event was but it made for some nice photos.

What gets me is why on earth aren’t there any agencies here in this country.  Surely the Argentine mujer mindset would not place that many taboos on joining a marriage agency?

How am I doing so far guys?  Do I keep writing?

Argt. women do tend NOT to marry americans.
They simply gloryfy everything that coms from Europe.
And Italy and Spain are their favourites!!!

Also I think BA woman (I was married to one) are VERY stuck up and arrogant.
That was (partly) why we divorced.

Arg. women are much arrogant in comparison with Brasilians or Peruvians. That's mho.

Hello Pablo,

Thanks for the report, please keep it coming....

As for the TV's, in Singapore they call them "Toys", and since most Asians are fine boned they are very passable...lol....My Aussie buddies have a rule, if she is over 5'6" beware!!!...lol... The same applies to the Philippines....  For me the best clue is that hair, make-up and clothes are usually flawless....

Thanks,

Mark

Most people like BsAs the most, but I did prefer Córdoba for its tranquility and safety. Perhaps it was because I was thinking of living there and it doesn't have the urban problems of BsAs.
Keep going, Pablo, let's hear about Mendoza.

Profile says 'homen', doesn't say 'mulher' Well, at least he (it?) likes to dance, and he doesn't smoke....and he adores dressing well (I'll bet he does!). Maybe he's a good match for the gold digger (that I suspected was a tortillera) from a couple of days ago.

I didn't see the "homem" part at first; I just saw a little thumbnail on the front page and clicked on it...then got to the part about "cross dresser"-- oops!
