Some of what was said in Calipro's post about the agencies is true.  Agencies do pray on girls.  They appeal to the girls vanity.  Many are pretty but most lack what it takes for success in the industry.  They end up doing provacative ads for a car dealer, or a night club, once every 3 to 6 months.  They have no real potetial for a future.  The agency is in the business of selling sevices to the girls, and then booking the girls.  Really, the agencies control over the girls can hinder them.  Why not? it's a busy.  One last point, I think that some of us have put the women on a pedestal.  These ladies are not the Virgin Mary.  Yes, there are some wonderful women in Columbia.  However, some of them while seeming like real good girls have been naughty.  Many are sexing foriegn men until they find one that will marry.  I would not doubt that a few have already been strippers, but of course they would not share that with a prospective husband.  Finally, while we all have our different taste, there is no reason to knock one another to protect the virtue of an unknown Colombiana.  I am sure that they can do okay for themselves...

Excellent points, sure Calenas are reknowned for their beauty - but Cali is also famous for SEX - there are certainly some naughty ones out there.  Cali certainly has it's share of red light districts.  Odds are probably not that bad that one could unknowingly court 'Satan Mary'.  Maybe one should check if their novia is listed on a website like www.Kaliente.com (I'm not suggesting that anyone really look there)?  Raises an interesting half-off topic question;  the medical exam necessary for the visa is supposed to primarily check for contagious illnesses such as AIDS, tuberculosis, Hepatitis B, etc..,  but they also say they will check for pregnancy and venereal disease - and notify the petitioner (you) if those are discovered.  I wonder how many petitioners have actually been notified that their wife/fiancee has an STD?  I bet not that many 'cause I understand there is not a real good way to test for STDs that are in submission (of course I'm not a MD, but I'll admit that unlike all of our helpful armchair psychologists here)

Hello everyone. I'm new to forum. I've been kind of ghosting about, reading the various posts. I'm interested in meeting a woman from South America, preferably Columbia. I used to date a columbian girl in college and I just wanted to pose a question...or maybe a few questions. How do you really know if she is a prostitute, regarding the "naughty" ones? Or if she has VD or HIV? I found some pretty good statistics if not a little old, from 1999. The aids rate for the U.S. was 0.61% of the population or 850,000 people, which is I'm sure just reported cases. In Columbia it's 0.31% or about 71,000 reported cases, and given that the 2002 population (I'm mixing years forgive me) of Columbia was 41,008,227 and the 2002 population of the U.S. was 280,562,489. Do you think that the odds of meeting someone that is infected are about the same? I mean the U.S. does have a lower population density relative to population and square-mileage. Or do you think that Columbia being a smaller country and having a higher population density matters, just based on the numbers? Oh-yeah and do agencies pre-screen at all? I sure there are some really good women there, I know I met a few last time I went. I read some of the posts about the golddiggers, users, and greencard seekers. I really like exotic women and I'm getting a little disillusioned with American women. I'm not sure when I might go again, I've been once already. Probably not to soon. I really just wanted to get some good advice from people that have experience. Thank you everyone.
