Commander of the urban branch of ELN, Saul Nieto, who goes by the nom de guerre "Ezequiel", was captured by police in Medellin yesterday, as were 12 others of lower rank that were with him. Also, in an unrelated incident, Faber Alberto Marin, comander of a rural troup of ELN near Medeiiln turned himself in to police in Medellin yesterday.
FARC leaders are surrendering as well, Monday, Carlos Alberto Ploter, an 'ideologicl leader' of the FARC, surrenderd to police in a village (article did not give name of village) in northwest Colombia.
So far this year over 600 rebels (mostly enlisted men/women) have turned themselves in under the clemency program.
