I read in today's paper that Miss Venezuela won't be participating in the Miss Universe pageant in Panama because currency regulations prevent the conversion of bolivars into US dollars needed to pay for the expenses.  I am not into these pageants but was intrigued that economic factors were preventing Venezuela from entering an international contest that it wins quite often.
