Travelocity is offering Miama to Bogota on COPA...298 tax and fees included. Has anyone traveled on this airline lately?

Its even cheaper than that now, I saw it for 202 on Lacsa and 250 on Lan Chile from Miami.  Lan Chile is non-stop.

I saw the cheaper fares...but none of my dates were available. Those fares were without the taxes too. Still some great prices if someone wants to head south.

I now feel it is misleading to publish fares with the taxes.  Post 9/11, the extra fees for security and airport improvements etc. approach and are even over $100 on international flights.  So saying the PRE-TAX fare to Bogota from Miami is $298 is very different from saying the TOTAL fare is $415.

To give an example, last weekend I visited my parents in Canada.  The base fare was $188.  But there was also a Navcan surcharge, a Canada Airport Improvement fee, a Sept. 11 Security fee, and USA Transportation tax, a Canadian provincial sales tax, a US Passenger Facility charge, a USA Immigration User fee, a US Flight Segment tax, a Canada Security charge, and a Canada Goods and Services tax.  The total fare was $272 so the surcharges amounted to $84.  That is almost a THIRD of the total fare!

If we are going to quote air fares here, let's stick to FULL fares, no misleading pre-tax fares please!

Actually the 298 I quoted was including the taxes and fees...as I stated in the original post.

I stand corrected Pirate.  I reacted to your second post referring to the $202.  The total fare of $298 is an excellent price.

No problem....I think you are absolutely right...when I buy a ticket all I want to know is the total price, i don't really care if the money is for fare or fees.
