What a journey ... We met on the beach on March 3, 2002.  After eight
times visiting Cartagena, two times to Aruba with her, one time to the
Dominican Republic for New Years, a month of initial preparations,
seven months of waiting for everything to go through INS and the
Colombian Consulate, and hundreds of phone calls, I can  truly say
that I know my fiancee very well and I am very sure of my relationship
with her.   Through much hard work (but fun), my spanish level is
considered advanced, which is critical since she speaks very little
english, like most of the women you'll meet down there.  I highly
recommend you do the same if you're serious about meeting a latina
woman.  Even if she speaks english, you still need spanish to be
able to communicate with her family, if that's important to you.

Everything went very smooth for her in Bogota.  She arrived on a
Sunday evening with her 2 boys and luckily a friend of ours has a
cousin there who took her and the boys in like family, met her at the
airport, fed them, escorted them everywhere ... she would have been
lost without them.  Bogota is a huge city.  If you go through this
process i highly recommend you find someone there who can do the
same.  She gave the woman $200,000 pesos ($68) for the entire 4
days and nights, and the woman was very happy.  We also sent her a
new telephone, since her's was in rough shape.

I flew down to Cartagena last Friday.  We had her going away party for
40 people at a nice open air restaurant called La Rancheria.   The
party included dozens of balloons, a welcome cocktail for all, 3 large
bottles of Whisky, additional beverages, appetizers for all, combo
main course (pollo asado & carne asada), desert (flan), an
awesome live 7 piece bayanato music group, and a good tip.  The
entire party cost me $500!!!  Only in Colombia ...

We had no problems leaving Colombia with her kids, because she
had gone to the airport a month earlier to ask specific questions
about what was needed to leave the country with her boys.  She
returned there one more time, so they (DAS) got to know her which
made it a breeze when leaving.

Upon arrival in Miami, we went to the immigration area and were
escorted into a waiting room where we waited 20 minutes and
walked out of there with the green light.  Customs was a breeze ...
they didn't even search our bags.  We spent the day at the swimming
pool at the top of the Miami International Airport Hotel.  At 7:00pm we
took our next flight to Detroit and arrived early and tired.

Here we are 3 days later and they have adjusted marvelously.  She
bonded with my 5 best friends and so did the boys.  It's almost
surreal seeing them here in front of my old lonely canvas of life.
Family is great and I highly recommend it for anyone who is ready,
but don't settle for just a hottie.  Find true love and you'll be on top of
the world feeling better than you have ever felt in your entire life ...

Congradulations, looks like you'll soon be 'one big happy family', best wishes to the bunch of you....I just don't like hearing that it took SEVEN months for her paperwork (since we're only two months into waiting on our paperwork, PLEASE, not another five months to go!).
