More hassles and hoops to jump through, I'm sure courtesy of the 9-11 gang and Sadam. If your lady has an interview soon be sure she is aware of these changes.

(from the US Embassy in Bogota website, dated March 27, 2003--please note that even though I got this from Colombia, it says that it applies WORLDWIDE)

New Non-immigrant Visa Application Form

Versión en español

For visa interviews on or after March 31, 2003, only the new completed visa application form will be accepted for non-immigrant visa processing. This change applies to all non-immigrant visa applicants worldwide. The applicant may download the form from our website. The form will also be available at Banco Union Colombiano and at the visa entrance of the Embassy.

The new visa application form requires more information, such as the name and telephone number of the applicant's U.S. contact. The new form, with questions on both sides, is on a full-sized sheet of paper. All questions must be answered before the signed visa application will be accepted for processing. The new form will be required from all applicants including those revalidating a visa. In addition, each applicant must fill out the additional form to be presented at the Banco Union Colombiano.

If you have already scheduled an appointment and been given the old smaller form, you must complete the new form before the interview. Applicants will not be interviewed until every question is fully answered. If your your interview date is after March 28, 2003, we recommend you obtain the new form at the Bank or from the Embassy website to avoid extra lines and wait time at the Embassy.

Sounds like non-immigrant would be stuff like tourist and student visas rather than spousal or fiancee.

Spousal visa is immigrant, K-1 (fiance) is non-immigrant, that's why she has to adjust her status after you marry her.

Understand that due to Friday's protests in Bogota, both the US and Spanish Embassies closed. No word yet on if they will open as usual on Monday or not.
