Its a friendly match-which almost always are used by both teams to "try" out thier differnt players. Now the Copa America sponsered by Colombia in 2002--now that was excitement Colombia won every single game (8 or 9) and no one scored on them. (Argentina did miss out citing safety concerns)but Brazil, Paraguay, Chile, Uruguay did go (very good teams) so Colombia legitimately did play good unfortunately they dont have consistency like Brazil or Argentina. Mexico for the 6th or 7th time got invited or match up with Venezuela and winner had the "priviledge" of going. My Mexican co-workers always say that the reason Mexico does not win is because they are biased against them. I highly doubt this, they are an average team with good improvements but I tell them they are not in the same "level" as the South Americans--they get mad but eventually admit I am right. Colombia beat Mexico 1-0 in the final--it was a great game to say the least, I do admit Mexico do have great boxers but as for balompie--forget it--North America (which I was taught at a Roman Catholic grammar shcool) includes Canada, U.S. , Mexico and the seven countries in Central America (thats ten total)technically even also the Carribean nations--anyway South America with the ten countries that participate in soccer seriously and respected by the world have earned 9 world cups compared to "ZERO" in North America and "8" in the old world--but the icing on the cake is that South America have won in Europe but Europe has not won in South America (World Cup titles. I also understand how people may see soccer as boring but my father always told me that "anybody" who has had a little practice can "score" a goal--its the sweet assissts, individual plays and the "build-up" of the goals that people enjoy--kinda like baseball---I am sooooo bored watching the same Mexican games televised on all three channels in Spanish--My Mexican friends and co-workers think Mexican soccer is so good but I tell them the only reason they televised Mexican games so much is that for every Argentine or Brazilian living in the states thier are about 60-70 Mexicans--its all about the numbers--then humbly they admit I am right--I tell them--hey Mexico has great boxers thier only competition are the Puerto Ricans and a little Colombia--I guess the leader in sports in Latin America would be Brazil, then probably Argentina, Cuba then most likely Mexico followed by Colombia, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Peru, Guatemala and Ecuador--something like that anyway I hope I have put a differet "spin" to your thread---God Bless--Colman

I think DR wins. Sammy Sosa, A Rod, Offerman, Pedro etc etc etc make more than all the soccer players in Brazil combined!

Look I was not comparing money--but since you insist--just because the MLS in the United States have a salary cap of about half a mil each season--this is a FAR CRY from what Europeans, Latins pay for soccer players--God Bless--Colman

What do you think A Rod gets?  Sammy Sosa? Pedro Martinez? etc etc etc.....    The US is better at soccer than Colombians are at baseball, basketball, football etc etc etc. You guys can argue about US versus Colombia in Soccer all ya want.

The only other sport Colombians are good at is auto racing;-) After watching taxi drivers down there, any one of em could win Daytona with 2 weeks practice;-)

They didnt even make the world cup after they went down the tubes during the last games of qualifying.  The USA would have beat the snot out of them as evidenced by their final 8 showing in the world cup (barely beaten by finalist Germany) and current number 10 ranking in the world.....Viva USA!!!!

a salesman on commision you would be more broke than a    1988 yugo--as I said before "North America" as countries participating  in soccer or world cup have not even once been in the round of 4-Yes United States soccer has improved immensely but you take the U.S. or ANY other country in North America and it would take them more than 28 years to even catch up to Brazil (world cup every 4 yrs. -Brazil 5x winners--5x4=20 plus two time 1st place(extremely respectable) --thats 28 yrs. of soccer dominance by any country from North America--wish is possible but VERYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY unlikely the odds would be something like 1,000,000,000 to one!!!!!--Colombia did not go to last world cup--very true--they needed 1 more goal then Uruguay--last qualifying game Colombia beat Paraguay --4 to 0. United States goes becasue CONCACAF is not very good. The only slight competion is Mexico perhaps Costa Rica and once in a blue moon Jaimaica--Belize, Nicaragua, Panama, Haiti, Canada, El Salvador, Trinidad and Tobago, Honduras, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Bahamas, Bermuda, Aruba, etc......has had maybe 1 or 2 "stars" (and that is stretching it) in its soccer history Brazil and Argentina as well as other South American countries has literally thousands ( for real ask a Brazilian--he'll name a few hundred)--listen you are a duplicate of my Mexican friends--lol--they say they have been to the world cup more times than Colombia (about 10 to 4) but without counting the last world cup Mexico has had more losses and one of the worst records in world cup history--again when Colombia has gone to the world cup 4x competing with Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Peru, Parguay, Chile --that has more merit than U.S. or Mexico going with competion like El Salvador (they went one time and lost 9-1! look at the history of world cup) or copetition like Haiti who dont even have a stadium (not dogging my Carribean amigos) but its no comparison--listen talk about something you know if you want any more of my time--because de futbol no sabes nada--lol --P.S.--I loved and rooted for that U.S. victory over Mexico--great game--God bless you--Colman beeeee

the facts, attack......sorry bro, but its not my fault that the USA is so superior to Colombia in soccer.  I dont play, I just watch.....and what I see is crystal clear.  Colombia has a long way to go to get on par with the current USA squad.  Remember, the USA defeated #5 Portugal in the first round....and South Korea defeated top five ranked Italy....we tied with South Korea and they were also in the final eight......so the USA did not have a cakewalk by any stretch...Dont worry..I'm sure you will come up with some other way to bash the country you live in...I have faith in you.

.........you are so ignorant when it comes to soccer....listen for the sake of saving you from some embarrassment in the near future...Soccer IS NOT like basketball where the BUlls can win a championship here and the next year the Jazz win a couple years then the Lakers--my point? Soccer history is a HUGE factor! Like I said the U.S. has improved immensely but they dont have history--listen ask someone that is really into soccer( a real fan not some college kid) a fan that knows a good deal of soccer history he/she will tell you that history is a big factor--Jaimaica, Nigeria, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, U.S. are below average to decent when playing soccer but all of these teams are improving but THEY HAVE NO HISTORY! IN EVERY CUP since 1932 the round of 8, 4, 2 has in the majority been teams with lots of soccer history (Brazil, Argentina, Italy, Germany, England) Just because the U.S. or Mexico or Guatemala, or Canada beat Germany, Brazil, Italy a couple of times in the past 10 or 15 yrs does not make that team better than them--you have to take into account HISTORY--but I see you like being Fred Flinstone so I did not want to post but decicded to give you another chance....by the way--with your attitute you sure will find a great compatible Latina real SOON--one more thing do you and Barney Rubble still like taking showers with the trunk of Wooly Mammoth--I bet you do--lol--thanks for a good laugh ==God bless you dude--Colman

You can keep calling me Fred Flintstone all you want but it doesnt change the facts.  History is history, what have you dont lately is all that counts. If history counts then I suppose the Celtics are the best team in the NBA even though they currently stink.  Last lesson, USA goes to the quarterfinals of the world cup in 2002 (where was colombia, argentina, etc?)  They are currently number 10.  Thats today, and those are the facts.  Dont try to lecture me on soccer, you probably dont know anymore than me, but you can simply cough up numbers. Big deal.  The USA is better than most teams in the world now, including Colombia.  The proofs in the pudding.

We beat the snot out of Mexico in the round of sixteen, I think was 2-0......face it, the USA has surpassed many South and Central American nations in soccer.  Argentina went out in the first round so how good are they in reality?  (overrated)   Oh well, will give the world, and Anti-Americans here another reason to hate us.....I love it.!!!

Hey - I am no expert on soccer and I only watched one half, but it looked like the Mexican team was playing better than the Colombian team.  The Colombians looked rusty and were hardly getting it down into the scoring area.

This must have been - as you said, because it was a "friendly" match.
