That's what we're here talking about, no?  It is something that we all desire in our lives, it is a common ground for a diverse group of people.  We all have different ideas about how to raise a family, how to manicure our lawns, and yes... even different ideas about politics.  What a sheer revelation!  Now, I am writing this message today to ask the good folks of this board to try and be more cognizant about how they express their political views on this forum; specifically, in how it becomes ritualistic in some threads to liberal bash.  Understand that people view the world differently... There is no "right" way, and there is no "wrong" way.  Things are seen differently through different eyes.
When people make asinine remarks about a whole group of people, it is a lightning rod for controversy.  It may make you feel very good to type that all liberals are this, and they are stupid because of that, etc, etc...  Sure, it is a delicious moment of self-gratification.  But it does absolutely NOTHING to push the agenda of this board forward.  Which is, as I understand it, to create a fellowship of men who are seeking latina wives.  Instead of poking at our differences, we should be harking on what we all share, what we all have in common...
Think about this post next time you have to bright idea to include a liberal diatribe in your posts...

Stop dividing this board!  Life is too short, and love is too sweet for these kinds of games.

Unfortunately, the politics of Colombia are involved with politics here and vice-versa. Comments about them are natural in this context. Controversy is a good thing: it's part of having freedom of speech. If that makes you uncomfortable, then defend your ideas.

Condor

If one were to only read your post and not the posts that preceded they would conclude that only the conservatives have been bashing the liberals on this forum and not the other way around.  I'm so accustomed to that kind of bias in our media that your spin almost slipped past my radar.

I agree we should try to keep anything political relevent at least to Colombia or some subject relative to Latinas.I know I have not always done that,I will try to stay close to the point in the future.
Sometimes US policy to places like Colombia relates to US policy in general.
I did not insult anyone here I don't think.I did put down a certain way of thinking that is similar to a way of thinking in Colombia that has resulted in a small group of people really screwing  up the country for about 50 years with nobody seeming to be able to develop sufficient  resolve to deal with it.They would rather the issue just go away or not deal with it.That rarely works,be it 50 years in Colombia or 12 years in Iraq.

Thank you Andean Condor, well said. Arm chair politician diatribes are completely off point here and offensive to those who don't happen to follow that party line. I say save the political rants for another board and stick to latin women and their culture on this one.

maybe, I'm just not that political of a person. I'm not republican or democrat, left wing or right wing, I look at each issue independently. I don't understand how one could find political comments personally "offensive".

You are right, this board is to discuss Latin Women and their cultures. I can see however if someone met and fell in love with a latina from a country other than colombia, only to read posts here proclaiming women from that country to be "dogs" or "monkey like". That would be offensive.

Maybe if you can take offense to silly political barbs, you can understand others finding barbs about their novias or wives to be "offensive"? Climbing off of my soapbox now;-)

Discussing politics in general....well, you've got a point. But talking about FARC & ELN and AUC (and Shining Path, and President Chavez and the colapase of the Argentine ecconomy etc.) IS relevent In case you haven't noticed, these all play a major role in WHY so many Latinas are shall we say 'interested' in marrying a gringo. I'm not saying they are gold diggers as much as I'm saying that without these conditions, most never would have particulary thought about looking for a husband outside of their home country. Does that make them less sincere? No, I beleive that 99.999999% of them sincerly intend to make a good marriage with a man who will respect and love them (and they intend to do the same for him), but again, most of them wouldn't have thought of us without the problems in their home country--how many agencies do you see specializing in women from France or Ireland?

I hope that Uribe can bring peace to Colombia, but I know it's going to take him a while, and more innocent people will die before he's finished....I can't save the whole world, but I sure would like the ^%$*& INS to give MY lady her visa before FARC blows up her neighborhood, and I'm sure everybody else on the K-1 waiting list feels the same way. And for those who's lady is already here, well, they still have to worry about her family members still there, so you see, talking about the 'situation' is indeed relevent to our cause.

Then too, knowing the dangers might just make some guys 'chicken out' on Colombia, which is their right and no shame on them, but at least the ones who do go deserve to be aware of the situation and the opinions and safety precautions used by those who have made the trip.

Michael B,
Please re-read my original post.  There is nothing in it to suggest that you should not talk about FARC, AUC, or even the NAACP...  It is the political ramblings and insults that I chose to address.
Opinions and safety precautions?  Sure!
Liberal bashing and other political insults?  NO!
