"But if she doesn't really love you she will soon adapt to the new environment here in the US and you will probably loose her. You must choose carefully. It's easy to find a beautiful wife in Colombia."

You're right Steve... There are some sharks in the water in LA, as there are everywhere... I think the key is time together... No one can put on a front for long and a savy gringo can decern contradictory behaviour in a latina given the time to examine their personality in a variety of situations... I still think that most latinas are honest in their goal of finding someone who will be honest and treat them with respect...

It's a two way street... My novia is constantly asking me questions concerning my intentions, my past, my plans for our future, etc... A shark does not care about the details, just getting to the promised land...

Tattoos are an automatic turn-off for me, too. However, my peruvian girlfriend offered to get one if I liked them. So the times they are a changing (just not always for the better).

How about

#5- Attitudes of the Latina ladies are much different than their gringa counterpart.  Generally speaking, I view them as being much much more family oriented that like the role of being a wife and mother whereas many women here are not.

Along with the higher percentage of beautiful women in latin america, their attitude is what attracts me to latinas...

Some may say that latinas put on a front to deceive gringos into thinking that they are something they are not... My experience is that most latinas are sincere in finding a life partner who will love them and treat them with respect ...

A common phrase I have heard and used myself many times is that latinas have a "sweetness" that IMHO is non-existant in the US... Relationships with latinas remind me of my high school days where the girls were sweet and not jaded... Trying to find this attitude today in the US is simply impossible...

"treat me with respect" was the number one on the wish list of every lady I talked to...and I talked to some divorced ones as well and under the 'reason for divorce' category they all said something along the line of "I respect MYSELF too much to let a man treat me that way"...almost as if they were reading it from a script, but I knew they weren't, that was really how they felt.

Number two on their list varried, depending on if they already had children or not. If they had children, they asked "how will you treat my children?"...if they did not have children, they asked "Will you give me at least one (preferbly two) children?"......I don't think the guy's looks even made their top ten list.

Well said. I agree with almost all of your points but have to dispute number 4. Fortunately or unfortunately depending on your taste tatoos on women are now widespread at least in Cali. In fact it seems more women have tatoos than men. An afternoon spent girl watching at Chipichapi will confirm it. Me I don't care much one way or the other. It's the shape under that tat that's critical.

I was there in April and June, 2002 and saw very few tatoos.  Most of my girl-watching was at the agency or at Chipichapi.  I did see a few, but in my opinion, much fewer per capita than on young women in the US.

Well it's nice to know there's so much variety. That proves we weren't looking at the same women.

I'll add to the above that once a colombiana has entered into a serious relationship she's usually in it for the long haul. You never hear of a couple breaking up over something like "incompatability". They break up for two reasons, either he doesn't work or he's made it too damn obvious that he's running with other chicas. That's here in Colombia though and the observation doesn't reflect the effects of going off to the states.
