Is there anything new regarding your spousal visa the you said wasn't issued on your wife's second visit to the embassy?  Have you gotten a date they might issue it?

These days my wife sits in her cousin's apartment and
waits for a phone call. From last Monday, I have been
calling the branch office of my Congressman, and trying
to reach their constituent-matters expert. He is supposed
to be back in his office this morning. I already faxed
them a letter detailing my experiences. I requested that
they make the appropriate phone call so that our paperwork
not get "lost" or demoted in importance. I will call the
Congressional rep when I finish typing this.

In response to my e-mail directly to the embassy two weeks ago,
they said that since this was an oversight, it should not
take a long time to rectify. I have less faith in
bureaucratic efficacy.

I am hindered in all these matters by an occasional bout
of bad temper. These people get my Irish up.
For me it is not a matter of high school civics,
and the platitudes we learned there:  they serve us.
These people are paid from my tax dollars, and serve me.
They need to be reminded, since with the "incumbency effect",
they never lose elections, and often forget that they serve anyone.

Can I ask the email addresses or phone numbers you have been using to contact the embassy?  I have no clue who to contact if something similar happens when my wife has her second appointment.

PS. My thoughts are with you man.  I can only imagine how it must feel to be so close to the end of the process only to have it held up by bureaucracy.

I am a resident of N.E. San Diego, and in the Congressional
district of Randy Cunningham. There are many website where
you enter your zip code, and it gives you a link to your
local Congressperson. Each has district offices. Find out
who handles constituent requests at the district office
closest to you. They usually want a faxed letter with a
signature that outlines your problem or request.

At the embassy, there is a "contact us" pop-up on their
website under the visa section. I usually entitle my e-mails
"Please Deliver to the Consular Affairs Section". I try to
be on my best behavior with the embassy, since they have the
most impunity to $I#@! with your life.

My Congressional constituent affairs person told me this
afternoon that this is not a new problem. It date to last
summer. I am behind 4-5 such cases on his desk, most from
other embassies in Latin America. In matters that would
sink a security check at this level, I have had a blameless
life, but it worries me that they are actually treating
my request with more scrutiny than normal. He told me he
will write a Congressional letter next Monday. He said that
the letter is usually enough to prompt either action or
an explanation pretty quickly.

Thanks for the support.
