The 101st just got orders to be deployed. Sad I'll pray for them. I was thinking I might not get deployed, but now Im starting think its possible. Several guard units are going. Im not sure how my wife will feel about that or what we should do. It would be really hard on her for me to be gone a year. It makes me sad to think about it really.

A guy I work with who is in the reserves was also just called up, reporting to a camp in Kentucky.  Seems as if it isn't a matter "if" it is going to happen, but now it is "when".

We and the rest of the world knew that months ago. Not God nor the saints in heaven will stop Bush from avenging his daddy's legacy. O woe o woe.

I agree Vet, but it hits home when your friends head out.

Thanks for your rousing support. Might be a good idea to keep your lack of patriotism quiet while you search for a Latina. Most of them will think you are ungrateful/crazy to live here and not appreciate the sacrifices of our military.

True Patriotism does not come in the form of buying the party line.  In fact, seems to me that the founding "patriots" of this country disagreed heavily with their government at the time, and consequently went about changing it for the better...

OK, if you find yourself in a tough spot sometime, don't bother coming here for any support. Making mockery of the Anthem a further sign of your true patriotism?

Ok... If that's how you want to (mis)read my response, fine.  You are hell-bent on me being an anti-patriot, so I'll just play along with you.  Feel free not to help me if I ever, "bother coming here for any support."  I'm not sweating it.

HA! I remember the first time around. 6 weeks on the Pacific Rim tour, then 2 weeks in Fort Ord, then 1 Month in Panama, then 12 hours after we hit California, we were off to Saudia Arabia for 7 months. Maybe 2 weeks of that in Kuwait. All that preparation and only 100 hours of shooting at people (course, they were shooting a little too).
You aren't the only one in the deployment "boat." Go do your job, then come home. Simple.

Oof sorry, way early in the morning.  LOL!

No Im not leaving yet. Im in the national guard now. (I was in Ft Hood when I went to Desert Storm) However, now its just things are starting to move quicker and its sinking in that its a 50/50 chance I could leave. I see besides the big movements, the little things that make me aware its stepping closer my way. And as a soldier, I know that I can be called at anytime. I accepted that a long time ago. I just dont think it will sit well with my wife, we have just been married for 1 1/2 years, and I know she wouldnt take it well for me to be gone, or be alone. Latinas are so close to their family. Im the only family she has here. I think I would tell her to stay with her family in her country. I have good friends here that would help her and she wouldnt be totaly alone, but I think she would feel better with her mama close. It would be hard for both of us, but we would survive. It just be hard. Its hard for all us in America..just something we must do.
