OK based on Pete E's post I'll talk a little bit about women. I unfortunately decided to file a K-1 I-129 fiancee visa instead of doing a direct consular filing in Bogota. Well, if you haven't heard the INS at the Texas service center (TCS) has stopped processing fiancee visa cases. The last time they processed one from what I read is sometime in early September. Some folks have been waiting 156 days ... me I'm one of the lucky ones only 90 days. Anyway I had to tell my fiancee just the other day about the delay and she was upset. Being form Colombia she understood about delays but I wonder if deep inside she felt maybe I was stalling her. I wrote a long letter in Spanish explaining how an incompetent agency, like many she sees in Colombia, exists here and is able to do a minimal amount of work in a maximum amount of time. Come May it will be 2 years since we met and still were together. I can say to those who fence sit that "go to Colombia." My 28 yr. old fiancee has brown curly hair past her waist which is a size 4. She would have more dates here then Iraq has excuses, which by the way is something to consider ... she will draw attention. When I was in Cali last we went to that new disco in the North the one with the moat around it, she partied me under the table, I was sick for 2 days until she nursed me back to health. We danced Salsa until 3:45 am when my 42 year old body failed. Did you ever talk to a Calena about jealousy? Apparently it's seen as unmanly for you (a man) to be jealous, but expected from her. It's like she has an AWAC in her head and the radar goes full speed ahead when another women gets close. Lets face it your in Cali how can you not look? I do love her and I'm planning to build a new house when she comes to Florida but I'm gonna wait and let her pick out the colors and tile. I just received a letter from Colombia which was sent by the US post office. That's correct US post office...yes I sent it 4 months ago and they just returned it stating could not find the address. Now I use DHL only takes 3 days

Craig,
Thanks for getting us back on track.I must take responsibility for us getting off track and way too political.I'll try to restrain myself in the future except as directly relates to Colombia.
No more fiance visas?Does that mean if you live in Texas you can't get one?
Does direct counseor filing relate to spousal visas only or is there some way to do a fiance visa going this route?
The spousal visa is easy but it requires you to make that commitment, the commitment, marriage.
What are your plans from here?At least you have a long history with your girl, maybe marriage isn't such a risk.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Pete

No problem Pete and glad you read my post. To answer some of questions the Texas Service Center (TSC) serves the states which fall under it's jurisdiction. Texas and Florida are both under the TCS area. If you file a fiancee visa and happen to be in one of the 12 or so states under the TSC command, you cannot file anywhere else. So Texas is still doing fiancee visas but they have not processed one in nearly 4 months, which has caused a huge backlog. Direct consular filing pertains only to getting married in Colombia and filing directly in the American embassy in Bogota. You cannot file for a fiancee visa in Bogota you must file in the USA

My plan is to continue with the fiancee visa because at this point I'm gambling that my visa will get processed by calling my congressmen. It's to far along to stop it. Plus I never really had a plan B. My novia told me to come to Cali she said I want to smother you with kisses and other things....I like things.......

Ahh, miscellaneous ramblings... When all else fails, idle chatter about the chicas is always fitting...

The jealousy thing is pretty funny sometimes... I think you're right in that many latinas feel that it's not "manly" for their novio to act jealous... Probably has something to do with the society and the machista nature of latinos... My novia says she does not want a jealous, possessive man and that she's not a jealous person either... Ha... She may not act jealous to me, but like your observations, when another chica starts to "home in" on her man, her radar goes off... She doesn't get mad at me, but lookout if another woman comes between she and I... I didn't know I was getting involved with a tazmanian devil... lol...

Perfect example... I met my novia at LAI in Bogota... Over the Christmas holiday, they have several gringos do a popular TV talk show in Bogota... The result, LAI had over 1000 phone calls from chicas wanting to join... Well, now they have all these new ladies and need to find gringos to come to visit all these girls... Well, LAI sends out an email to all their members, inviting us to come visit all the new ladies... I mentioned the email to my novia in passing and I thought she was ok... Passed it off as a joke, es la broma... What does she do, she calls the agency and reams the girl who sent out the emails... lol...

Partying with you novia is kinda like running a marathon... Ya gotta pace yourself... Now, I'm in great shape, but dancing for 5 hours straight will take the wind outta anyone... Not to mention the tequila shots... AAyyyeee... The first time my novia and I partied hard, we drank too much and danced all night... I wound up with walking pneumonia... I must of lost 5 pounds in water from sweating alone... Since then, I pace myself... If she wants to climb up on the bar and dance, I let her... I like the view!!!  It's amazing how much energy a 5'3", 90lb colombiana has... Would I change it, hell no...

The mail thing is a real joke... I sent a letter to my girl the first week of December, 2002... It still hasn't gotten there... I guess from your time table that I should be getting it back sometime around Easter... Ya gotta love our postal service... What did we do before email???

A business associate was in my office today when I get a phone call from my novia... I break into my best Spanglish and he gives me the strangest look... I explain to him that it's my gf from Bogota... This immediately peaks his interest and after seeing her photo, he wants the "scoop"... The who, what, where, when, how of our relationship... This guy has just been crapped on by his AW gf and got dumped... Needless to say, I think we may have a new member here soon... Another convert...

Yeah, there are trials and tribulations of this pursuit... But for the most part, I feel the rewards justify the effort...

Ok, enough mental diarhea...

my 2 cents...
