Although the Colombian version of Valentines Day is celebrated in September, most ladies love to receive flowers from their men any time of the year.

For the gents with ladies in Cali, my mother in law can arrange for flowers to be delivered.  She has a good friend with a flower shop.  My wife was doing this last September for some guys since she happened to be in Cali that month visiting the family.  18 roses in a nice arrangement for $25.  They currently have red, salmon and pink roses.

Send me an e-mail and we will make the arrangements.

Thanks in advance gents for allowing me to post this service for my wife's family.

I say support Edge's in-laws and friends if you're sending to Cali, if you're not, here are two options Smiley

http://www.lafloristeria.com

http://www.latiendadelasrosas.com/

Both places take credit cards and for Bogotá delivery it's $30-33 (tax and delivery included) for two dozen long ones.  They also deliver to other cities around Colombia.  Yes, I know that's a healthy mark up from local prices but it's Valentines's day and I could do everything online. Just for kicks, I looked up the same thing on FTD.com and Bachmans.com (a Minneapolis florist). If I wanted US delivery it would be $160 !!!

That's is a good deal. When my then fiance sent me flowers from the United States to my country, it costed him at least $200 bucks.

Edge not to bicker but 73.000 pesos sounds steep for sending flowers in Cali. About half that seems to be the going rate locally.

Well, yeah, if you're already in Cali it's about 1/2 that, how do you think he (actualy his mom-in-law) makes the profit?. However if you're NOT already in Colombia on Valintine Day, try hunting up a flower shop that takes telephone orders and trusts you to mail them a check (he's right, they can't take credit cards over the phone). I can tell you a good one in Cartagena, (and they actualy do trust you to send them a check c/o a relative in Miami) and they charge $50 for the same service. Check out a few of the agency prices, they start at $65 (for less flowers) and go up from there.

I've sent my lady flowers via Edge a couple of times, they've always arrived on time and as promissed. She's sent me pictures of her with the flowers, they were very nice and were actualy more flowers than I expected for the price. Hey, I don't get any commission or anything (how much commission can there be on a $25.00 sale???) but he's offering a good deal if anybody wants to send flowers. Besides, you don't begrude his poor ol' mother-in-law earning a couple of honest bucks and making some of our novias happy all at the same time, do you? :}

No begrudging intended. In comparison to US prices it's a deal, no argument there.

Mr. Vet - take my word for it, these are good quality roses that will open.  They are "tipo exportación".

The main thing is the service we provide as well as good quality roses.  A gringo does not have to worry about calling down to Cali and having to converse in Spanish and take the chance that the people will not understand where to deliver the roses.  He also will not run into any trouble trying to pay for the roses.  He can send us a check.  I may be wrong but I recall that the colombians cannot accept credit card payments from the U.S. by phone.  I recall them saying their banking laws prohibit this and you would have to pay by something like MoneyGram.

I remember good ole Norm used to charge about $25 when he was in Cali and not to bad-mouth Norm, but these roses are better.  These roses I had him deliver a few years ago were only a dozen and they did not open.  Although Norm would take a digital picture of the consignee and the roses and send it to you.

You may be right about the going rate "locally", if you are in Cali.

I don't know much about the local prices but I have also used Edge's mother-in-law for flower delivery and she is very honest and dependable.
