After the failures of Plan A (Amigos.com lady) & Plan B (Bogota lady), I had a week of vacation left. It was time for Plan C. Trouble was, I didn't start out w/a plan C. But there was only one choice, really. So, after watching the the Fiesta Bowl broadcast (delayed 12 hrs, d'oh!!), I hopped a plane for Cali.
I returned to Latin Best, the place where I began my search lo, these many years ago, back when it was Latin Connections. As a "life member" of LC, I used to go fairly regularly to Cali, until Ed Beckwith shut it down. Then I tried Bqlla & Ctgna, writing to girls from AFA. Costenas are nice, and I had 2-3 very marriageable amigas last summer. Unfortunately, I chose the most attractive, least stable one, & it all blew up in my face. D'oh!!
I think Latin Best is one of the cheaper agencies in Cali, & I always liked Luz Amparo. After a busy holiday/Feria season, I was the only guy staying at the agency, tho not the only one using its services. I looked thru the albums, made my list, and voila, beautiful ladies started appearing for interviews. I was thinking that maybe I'd learned my lesson & it was time to complete the circle, but there was still a classic mistake to be made.
The lady who liked me the most was 20 y.o., gorgeous, & seemed ready for marriage. Despite her age & my better instincts, I spent a couple of days w/her to see if it would work. It didn't. Like many of the younger agency ladies, she'd had a difficult childhood (orphaned & abandoned by her family). It became apparent to me that she was more interested in marriage & a better life than she was in me. I may be a young-looking 44, but I'm not quite as dumb as I look. So it was back to the "books."
My luck turned in my last few days there. I met 2 great prospects, both mature, attractive college grads, 25-26, both interested in me. Another cute receptionist, 27, rounds out my list. There wasn't enough time to narrow it down to one, but I have 3 months before my next trip to get to know them better via phone & e-mail. And if it doesn't work out w/these ladies, there are plenty of others. Cali is definitely the place. And hopefully I now have the patience & mature judgment to complete this process successfully. Or as Hoda might put it, I think I'm now ready for Love to find me.
BTW, Pete, I finally met your wife's friend Paula. She was very nice & cute, though not the one for me. Thanks for all your advice.
