My K1 paperwork was received at Nebraska on 8/20/02 and they
told me it was taking about 5 months  when I called in October.  I
called again a few days ago and they said they are currently
working on applications from 7/24/02, so it looks like about four
more weeks of waiting until they start.  Does anybody have an
idea how long it actually takes from the time the officer starts
reviewing our case in Nebraska until the time that Yesenia will
receive her package from the embassy?  Does anybody have
any experiences with Nebraska that contradict the wait time I'm
experiencing?  Does anybody know how soon, after receiving
her package, will she be able to get an appointment with the
doctor in Bogota and actually go to get her visa?

Thanks for your reply,

MJ

Mine also went through NSC.I was told it would take around 90 days. It took around a 130 days if I remember correctly. Best advice I can give you guys is just sit back and enjoy life while it`s being processed. No amount of calling and worrying is going to get it approved quicker. When you least expect it, it will show up in your mailbox.

Everything is great with me and my wife. We have been married a year and half and im more happy now than ever. We have a great relationship. Things for her were tough the first few months, she missed her family alot, but once she made friends and got working...it got much better. I took the time to help her find a job and taught her to drive, because i knew it was important that she not sit home and dwell on missing her family and be alone..... and now her sister met a guy from Chicago and they are going to get married and she will be here this year, so with someone from her family here, she will have someone she can talk to on the phone and visit sometimes....We are planning on having a double wedding in July this year in Mira Flores, we got married in a civil ceremony, but she wants a church wedding too, so she and her sister wanted to do a double wedding....she is really excited about it.......I just came back from Peru for Christmas and New Years, my wife is still there untill Feb.....she getting some paperwork from her college so we can start working on getting her in college here for Dental School.................No I havent been called up, yet.....and since it would take at least a month to get mobilized with my unit, and i havent heard anything about us going... I think I will get to sit this one out and watch on the sidelines this time....but you never know, Im in the 278th Armored Calvary..so we have it all, tanks and helicopters..and we just went to NTC in Ft Irwin, CA for desert warfare training...so that puts us on the list of possible units im sure....there only two CAV units left in the Army or Guard....Us and the 11th ACR Black Horse which is at Ft Irwin and is who we trained against at NTC..(they won most of the battles of course since they are very good, on home ground, and they are full time and we're weekend warriors...but we did win one of the 3 battles we fought, and they havent been beat in 5 years)......I saw the MP's and Transport units here get activated and went up to Ft Campbell, so things are busy here this past month....I suspect it wont be long in waiting for the fireworks..................Its great to hear your got hitched, and she will be coming here soon. I know it took a while for it all to come together. You didnt want to go the spousal visa route? You will have to e-mail me and tell me about your story. Congradulations and wish you both the best!

MJ I think they are telling you the truth. Nebraska is the slowest service center in the country. It takes a few weeks for them to approve the file (once they look at it to process) assuming everything goes well. Then it's takes about a month or more for your novia to get her package(which includes the time the office in Nebraska takes to send the K-1 package to Bogota and Bogota to her). Then a few weeks or so to get her appointment once she fills out the paperwork they send her.
