Just returned tonight from my 3rd trip to Panama City in the past year. Also been to Cali 4 times since June. Not really trying to start a fight or anything, but I really can't figure out why Cali, in particular, and Columbians in general are getting all the attention. Is it the presence of agencies? Pamamanian ladies are 95% as attractive as the Columbians, or better, especially if you like a bit more mocha in the mix, the dollar is the official currency, air quality in Panama City is MUCH better than Cali due to the ocean breeze, oh yea-there is an ocean there, more flights in, the city is much more interesting and modern, more ladies speak English, etc...so after another great trip to PC, just wondered why it is so overlooked. I stay at the Continental Riande in the middle of the financial district. Great nightclub "Bacchus" across the street with, oh, a 3 to 1 ratio in our favor on a given night. After tours to Cali, Panama City (with TLC) and St. Petersburg (another story), I would definately tour to PC before Cali again. And BTW, I have a girlfriend from Cali who I hope doesn't read this. Worth considering, guys.

Boy I don't know what part of Panama City you went to that would prompt such a positive report.  I was in Panama City in August and found it to be boring, shabby and the fact there is an ocean is pretty much negated by the fact that the shoreline is smelly mudflats 20 hours a day.  I did see a few attractive women at a bar specializing in Colombian women, but the Panamaian women I saw were dogs and had lousy attitudes.  I realize everyone has differing viewpoints but I can't imagine how you could think this was such a great place.  I haven't been to Cali so I don't know how Panama City compares to Cali, but I think Bogota is more modern than Panama City and doesn't have the slums like Panama City does.  Forgive me for raining on your parade but your account of Panama City was nothing like I saw when I was there.

I have not read this board too much in the recent past, and decided to check in and see what was up. I was pleasantly surprised to see posts on Chile, Honduras, Ecuador and Panama.
Quite a refereshing change from the whole agencies in Colombia are the only way to go approach.

Colombia is cool, nice looking women, war, terrorism, bombs, kidnappings etc etc etc. If someone says anything even remotely negative about Colombia, they are jumped all over.

One guy says he liked Panama, and found the women attractive etc. Tow replys saying women from Panama are "dogs" and "monkey like". That is sad.

This kind of responses and behavior will prevent "newbies" and people with info and points of view on other countries from posting here for fear of being ridiculed.

I like reading about different countries, and I doubt there is much new info for me to discover about Colombia.

I would have hoped things would be a bit more open minded, but if it aint Colombia it aint worth anything I guess. To each his own.

There is a lot of talk about Columbia in here. I think most of it has to do with all the agencies that have been around over the years there. Also, You can tell its made an impact on the latinas there, i think they are more open minded to go to an agency. For example.. a side effect of it seems to show up, when I went to a couple of sites where you can place an ad with a picture and then respond to each other (ie Singles site on Excite.com or AmericanSingles)....well, they list the women by country and Columbia always had a TON of ads. They always posted more than the other countries, I was like damn they all want to leave. They would have like 200+ compared to Brazil which might have like 50 or so etc. Mexico would have just a few...I think Mexico is like my wife's country, the ladies arent so hyped up to go to an agency, matter fact they dont seem to like the idea at all......... To me, there are a lot of hot latinas in all of the latin american countries. At first, I had thought of going to Columbia or Mexico, but then I started chatting with my future wife who is Peruvian. Well, that was end of that. There are lot of people who come and visit this website who are married to people from other countries other than Columbia. I know of 2 others on this site who have Peruvian wives. I think we are the more quite ones though. Most of these guys talk about going to Columbia.

I just think that somem of you "quiet ones" would post more often if it wasn't for fear of being trashed or have your novia and her country trashed. I plan to put up a little forum for guys that are interested in other countries etc. There is plenty of info on Colombia here, but I think there needs to be a place where people will feel comfortable posting on other countries.

I posted about this on LWL, and received a BUNCH of private emails asking me to please do it. I will not be competing with PL, it will be a non commercial basic forum for non colombian latinas. I have already done some work on it and even state for discussing colombia go to www.planet-love.com

If you want to take a look and give me feedback, let me know. I f there is enough interest in particular country, I'll add a separate forum for that country etc etc etc.

Actually I made a bunch of trips to the Dominican Republic before I ever set foot in Colombia and I like it a lot. Continuing with my blatent stereotyping I will say that while many colombianas may have an edge when it comes to "pretty" dominicanas have it when it comes to "sexy". I ended up in Colombia because of my novia but one of these days I may try to pry her out of Cali and show her the eastern half of Hispanola.

I totally agree on that. I have been to Colombia and was a day away from a 3 week business trip there, when I got laid off. I had a client waiting for me at the airport! Colombian women are very beautiful, but I do agree that Dominicanas win in the sexy department.

Many, many times I have seen a Dominicana that was "average looking", maybe a 6. Then after watching her dance or gyrate in her seat the way only Dominicanas do. . . . . . bam shes a 7.5;-)

They are missing a few vertebrae in their lower backs;-) You see 6 year old girls dancing in the street, and they are dancing "sexy". I tell my GF as I told my ex, if I have a daughter, she aint dancing like that! They both just told me, she will have no choice it will be in her blood!

Also, Dominicanas are VERY sexual! On the LWL list one poster said all his Colombian wife wanted to do was make love. Every one was sooooo. . . . .jealous. . . .. . except me!!;-)

I'll be posting some DR photos and possibly do some streaming video in the near future.

BTW, I have met a decent amount of Panamanian women, and none were "monkey like";-) Some were very beautiful.

Monkeys I say! or monkettes maybe. I had a girlfriend in Santiago for a while and came close to marrying her and bringing her to the states but in the end I realized that's all she wanted and any gringo would do. Also I began to question whether she might have been a part time professional. I think more of that there than here. A driver who took me to Los Charamicos a short ride from Sosua insisted ninety percent of the female population of that village are prostitutes. To be fair it's in the heart of the tourist area of the north coast. I will quickly add that I have a friend in Santo Domingo out in La Venta de Monoguayabo who is a completely decent girl.

I've never been to Sosua, but have heard that a large percentage of girls there are working girls. There are a bunch of ex pats etc that have get togethers there for the dr1 board members. They had a turkey dinner for thanksgiving etc. I would like to meet some of the people from DR1 in person so will make a trip up there someday.

Boca Chica on the south shore has or had a reputation just as bad. It has gotten a bit better, but at night it is still quite sleazey. I just go there in the daytime and hang at a buddy's bar. Going there tomorrow for superbowl sunday. When there at night I either hang at my buddy's bar, or Route 66 which has a great mix of music, sometimes live bands and is pretty quiet, unlike many of the bars on the main drag.

Santiago is a nice town. Pretty women. Don't believe it has a reputation for having tons of working girls but I'm sure as in any place they have some.

I'm not really sure there is more of that stuff here. In colombia it seemed every cab driver asked me if I wanted to visit a working girls establishment. I can't remember a taxi driver asking me that here. There will be touts on foot outside of some hotels etc, but I never get barraged with offers such as those. I think maybe in places like Sosua even, rather than being in some hidden place, or casa de cita, there are working girls out in otherwise "normal" bars etc. So maybe because it is more out in the open, we get the impression that it is more prevalent.

For instance in Boca, it used to be walking down the main drag at night, would result in tons of such women accosting you. So tourists at the all inclusives that were brave enough to actually leave the complex would immediately be exposed to it.
I have heard it is much better but have not walked that main drag in years and when I did I was always with my ex and was bothered less.

OTOH, in Colombia you would need to go looking for places I guess. Santo Domingo is probably similar in the fact that you don't run into any of that stuff, unless you were looking.

I actually had arguments with one guy that posted online that all Dominican girls are "available". He was a guy that stayed in Sosua 99% of the time, at a hotel that had girls "working" there. I finally made him see the fact that if you stay in a tourist town famous for that stuff, you can get that idea. He now has a Dominican GF from a small town and realizes that the vast majority of the country is nothing like Sosua!

After arriving at the airport in Puerta Plata one night I stayed at a little "hotel" in Los Charamicos. Instead of a chocolate on my pillow there was a condom. Love that place.

It is unfortunate, but I have to agree with you. I can more than handle the flamers, yet the truth is, there is not a good return on time invested on the board when you factor in the crap. I love Colombia its people, culture, etc; but it seems that if you post something positive on another LA country or culture, be prepared for the ridiculers. Some of the mean spirited comments on other countries were neanderthal at best (monkey-like, dogs?). I'll check the board periodically and may post sparingly, I do hope that the level of legimate information sharing increases as well as tolerance for the differences and beauty of other countries and cultures.

but I suppose most anyplace is what you make of it. Saw no shortage of women with the right attitude. I guess the ladies are a bit less ready to jump at the first gringo, but I've had great success there. Old Panama City is definately slummy, but there is no reason to go there. I just think Cali is somewhat over-rated. To each his own, good luck.
